I’m not on the pill and I’ve been tracking my cycle for the past 9 months, it’s pretty regular, every 28 – 31 days with 1 wonky cycle the whole time. AND I think I get ovulation pains because I always get a sharp pain on the side down in that area, on Day 11 – 12.
BUT… it’s always only on the left side??? It’s got me worried cos I’m like, well why don’t I ovulate from the right ovary? What if all my eggs are running out at twice the speed cos my body is only harvesting from the left side?
Or do I have it completely wrong… anyone with advice?

@amyinbrisbane: It does kind of sound like you do only ovulate on the left side, if you can feel it that precisely, although maybe you ovulate on both sides and only feel it on the left??
I think each ovary generally has many more eggs that it actually needs for a woman’s fertile period of life, but I’m not sure.
A good place to ask this question would be the (huge and amazingly helpful) Livejournal forum VaginaPagina. Lots of very knowledgeable people over there!

Oh, and if you are concerned about your body/fertility doing weird things, long-term herbal remedies (take for 3 months or so) are great for evening out hormonal oddities. Herbs like vitex, especially. If you are interested in that kind of thing, check out Rosemary Gladstar’s Herbal Healing for Women– great book. Here’s a link to it on Amazon.
