So i’ve noticed by their cardbox some people put a “cards” sign in a picture frame……do i really need this? I mean, besides where people are eating i’m have 4 tables…..chocolate fountain, cake, gifts and entrance table. Are we really underestimating people THAT much by telling them that cards go into that pretty box with the slot?

Honestly, no, you do not need to put a “cards” sign on the card box.
I will be doing a sign, but only because I’m using a bird cage, and I don’t want it to get mistaken for decoration.
But if you just have a box with a slot in the top, I’m *fairly* sure your guest will know the drill.

I didn’t have a card sign for ours. I figured most of ours could figure out out pretty easily 🙂

I’d say that a lot of guests won’t necessarily be familiar with the concept of a card box. Yes, they are common here, but guest who haven’t planned their own weddings may not even have seen them. A “cards” sign, or even a few dummy cards inside (if you can see inside) would help.

I would give people the benefit of the doubt and not put one up, but then if someone else thinks you should have one, let them make it! 😀

@Kanebaby: We’re not doing a card box, thus, we’re not having a sign LOL I don’t think its necessary to have a sign

i used a clear hurricane candle holder for my cards. i didn’t put any kind of signs on it. what i did was i put a card envelop in it to let people know that’s where the cards go.

TingTing–I like that idea of the clear hurricane holder for cards.
Like others have said, I think it depends on what your card holder looks like. To be safe, you could label it with a sign. If you’ll have someone around helping with the guest book, I’m sure he/she could also direct people where to put cards.

We used a bird cage and I was afraid people would think it was just decoration, so I used a sign. But I think a box is pretty obvious.

A box is pretty obvious. But you can simply write ON the box “cards” and not bother with a picture frame and everything, if you want.

We didn’t even have a card box. In the final hour, that got cut from the to do list. Despite our lack of instructions and receptacle, guests still figured out where to put their cards.

LOL you’d be surprised…
I’ve seen people place a “cards” sign on the box, or even a “thank you” sign. For the vast majority of people, it’s obvious enough that slotted box on the gift table is where you put the cards though.
