The title says it all. Most of the online veil stores offer to sell you a garment bag for your veil, to prevent discoloring. Even though my wedding isn’t for almost 12 months, I’d like to buy my veil now to take advantage of a sale! And I’m so cheap that I hestitate to pay an extra $15 for a garment bag. If I just hang the veil in a dark place in my back closet, will it keep for a year without turning yellow?
Help me bees!

I have never heard of a garment bag for veils. I just have mine wrapped in tissue paper and placed in an airtight ziplock bag. I don’t see any reason to get a special bag, unless you really want to.

I bought mine today, and they told me that they just leave it in the plastic wrapping it comes in until the wedding! I have a year and a half to go, so… I’d say you’re good without it!

I’m repurposing my mom’s veil for my wedding, and hers is 37 years old and has been in a regular plastic bag on a hanger for all that time. If hers can last 37 years, yours can probably last 18 months. Just a thought!

If the veil is made out of tulle like other regular veils then it shouldnt get discolored within a year. unless you take it out of the plastic bag and leave it hanging in the sun for the entire 12 months. I dont think you need to spend that 15 bucks on the garment bag
