Sorry for the multitude of posts recently – I feel a bit like a “me me me” brat at the moment. I hope this is the last one for a little while 🙂
As a quick background, I fell in love with a Tacori setting, but it was out of my price range. I brought a bunch of pictures to my jeweler, including pictures of rings I did NOT like. Once the wax mold was finished, I went to “approve” it. I did approve it, but said I felt the halo was too thick. He said that it was a rough wax model and he would tell the goldsmith to use less metal.
Well, I have the finished product and it doesn’t look anything like the pictures. In fact, it looks like the “dislike” pictures I showed him. I am pretty disappointed, because 1. I paid a lot of money for this to be a custom ring, and I do not like the end product and 2. It doesnot look like what we had discussed/shown in the pictures. I could have picked out a pre-made ring for a cheaper price that I would have liked better than the ring I ended up with. There are no returns or exchanges as this is a custom ring. However, I feel a little gypped and set up an appointment to talk to him tomorrow about this.
The ring is much chunkier than I would like; I liked a dainty ring. And the more I look at the ring, the more disappointed I get 🙁 I specified over and over I did NOT want an obvious halo
What do you bees think? Do you agree with me that is it very different? Or do you think the two are similar enough? What do you think I should say or do?? Help!
This picture above is the picture I told him i DISLIKED because of the very obvious halo
This picture above is the picture of the Tacori from their website I wanted replicated, and I stressed the more “hidden” halo
This picture is a pic of the Tacori from a “real” person online (aka, non stock photo)
My custom ring is below:
ETA: My fiance says they “look the same” and I am just nitpicking. Of course, he is a male and probably doesnt “get” it like females do. I just wanted to make sure that when I bring it up to the jeweler tomorrow, there really is a difference and I am not just nitpicking. Thank you :)!
ETA 2: My Fiance paid over 3k to have the SETTING made. Now I feel even more terrible he paid so much for something that looks nothing like the tacori!! Ugh 🙁
