Ugh, sorry about that.  Pears are beautiful, I’m surprised you wouldn’t find one.  Lol @ “You really want a round or a princess.”.  Do they think they’re mind readers or something?

Jewelers told me the same thing when I said I wanted a cushion! I replied “Rounds are boring and I find princess cuts to be hideous.” That shut them up lol

I don’t particularly LOVE the pear shape as a solitaire, but in a halo…mmm 🙂

Same goes for Marques -_- and even emerald cuts are getting harder to find..  there just not “popular” I want every shape eventually just because I’m gem stone crazy >.< … I know my old job never carried them but we could ship things in and if the customer didn’t like it we simply shipped them back you don’t need to worry about getting stuck with something you don’t like because it’s ” special order ” and you can see it in person without paying for it and worrying about shipping it back for returns

I recommend checking out some online options. While a pear isn’t my “E-ring” ( we just have bands) my husband got me an anniversary ring with our wedding months gemstone ( pear shaped)  in a pave setting. I love pears, and yup they are hard to find!

@kmconda:  I went to Safian and Rudloph and Barsky and found nothing for me in either.  I went down there for my e ring and came up dry.  Returned for wedding rings and had the same issue.  I wanted something that wasn;t trendy.  I ended up at Harry Merril which is itty bitty and found some great stuff and nice people.  They handle a lot of estate rings too which I thikn is more pear-friendly.  Plus they can make whatever you want.

My Fiance called around to several places. He went to an estate type sale apparently at Smyth Jewelers. My pear came off a brooch from the 1940s. That may be an option. I do not know what he paid for it, but I know we are not extremely rich or even well off by any sense of the word, so an estate sale my be an option if you are looking for a pear.

Pears are gorgeous! I have an oval. It’s considered a fancy cut and a lot of jewelers don’t carry stock (but they will find them for you.)

Rounds and Princess cuts sell for a lot more $$$ than fancy cuts. They just do. So jewelers you probably don’t want to work with are going to push those stones.  I don’t have any suggestions for finding your stone (my husband went through a family friend who is in the business to find mine), but definitely keep looking.
