I read earlier that a mossy is a 9.5 on the hardness scale, with diamond being the most hard or a 10. It sounds like would be very difficult to chip, especially with a chanel set band.

Even diamonds chip, but moissanite are comparable to diamond in terms of durability.

I haven’t heard of a moissanite chipping.

Anything will chip if hit at the perfect angle, even diamonds. Moissanites are stronger than sapphires, so I wouldn’t be too concerned about them chipping.

I’m kind of thinking of doing a similar thing.  I’d love to see them next to each other if you do decide to do this.  Please keep us updated!

@FarleyNish:  For what it’s worth, I have a moissanite engagement ring and a diamond/sapphire band and they look totally fine next to each other. The stones on the band and the side stones of the e-ring are small enough that they all just look like white sparkly stones!
