Just out of curiousity what is on your Do Not Play List? Our is the following:
NO COUNTRY MUSIC
Our DJ said that he never plays these songs unless the bride and groom request them. Have you been to a wedding recently where these were played? The reason I ask is because our list came up in conversation and my fiance’s dad is in complete disbelief that we put these on the do not play list. I told him that these songs make my brain bleed and his response was “Don’t you think there will be guests who want to hear these songs? Because the 50 plus crowd definitely will.”

Only thing on mine is no line dance songs.. I really hate them. The only way I’d consider them if it means getting people moving.

@KristenGotMarried: I have searched this topic. I mainly posted because I’m pretty upset with my future FIL’s comments. Just a little vent I guess.

@schnellexo: Why would his comments upset you so much? Like them or hate them, lots of those songs DO get people dancing. It’s not worth getting upset over, it’s just true, they are fun and silly and some people like them. If you don’t like them, feel free not to play them!

@KatyElle: I think it was his tone of voice that got me. And I’m still trying to figure out why he made the statement: “I’m going to be surly at the wedding.” Following that was a table full of wierd looks so he replied. “Oh I was just kidding.” But he said in a a very serious tone of voice. If he was being funny. I totally didn’t get it, neither did the rest of the family. His behavior was beyond strange…

WOW, in the mean time we love country music, as well as line dances, and most of the music you have stated is on our list. Including Cotton Eye Joe, mainly because we like to have fun. My daughters were baton twirlers for 16 years and I am marrying the coaches brother n law, cotton eye joe, celebration and many of the other songs were part of the team’s competition music for years, and definately has importance for us all.
However SaraBeth will not be playing.
