I’m going cake tasting today. It has to be the thing I have been looking forward to the most out of all the wedding planning tasks! I LOVE CAKE! Nomnomnom
We are having a dessert hour with 4 wedding cakes (3 cake cakes and a cheese wheel cake for Fiance because he doesn’t like sweets)
So, if you were my wedding guest… which of these would you break your diet for?
Hummingbird Layer cake
Chocolate Raspberry Cake
Red Velvet Cake

For me, it is ALWAYS red velvet.

PERSONALLY, I love carrot cake, but I think carrot is one of those “love it or hate it” things where there will probably be a number of people who don’t like carrot cake at all.
Red velvet is a pretty safe way to go, and the one you posted is so lovely! The hummingbird layer cake is also very cute!

@LadyMonster: I love carrot cake too! That’s why I was so sold on multiple cakes instead of having one wedding cake – Fiance can have his cheese and 3 cakes should cover everyone’s tastes. We also have a lot of guests with allergies which would’ve been hard to cater for in one cake (gluten free, dairy free, nut free).

Red Velvet, though I’d totally tear up some Hummingbird as well. We did White Chocolate and it was the BOMB!

I voted for the chocolate raspberry cake. However, if the red velvet cake will have cream cheese icing, I may select that instead. Those would be my two faves! I actually have never heard of humming bird cake. What does it taste like?
I have no idea what hummingbirds taste like, so I’m gonna have to go with red velvet. I love a good coconut too, but I think red velvet would be more of a crowd pleaser.

hummingbird and chocolate raspberry

Defiantly the red velvet!

Oh my god. cake.
@Brielle: yep, red velvet has vanilla cream cheese icing made with madagascan vanilla beans.
Hummingbird cake is a banana & pineapple cake.
We’re leaning towards:
– Red velvet, you bee’s are right it’s a bit of a crowd pleaser and it was sooo yummy this one will probably have our cake topper
– Chocolate & raspberry – it’s rich and moist and has fresh raspberries in it!
– Turkish Orange – the only non-dairy cake and it’ll cater to those with less of a sweet tooth

I wasn’t hungry. But I am now.
I would totally go for the Turkish Orange. (I’ve never had it, but it looks and sounds delicious and I’d want to try it.)
Carrot cake is my favorite, though… so it would be a hard choice.

The red velvet and the carrot cake look DELISH!!!!

@Elvis: it’s made with fresh oranges and almond meal and the top is drizzled with a light passionfruit icing… *dies*
