My first bad experience was with Chanda Takamura at the Waimea Plantation Cottages. She was so helpful until I put down a $1500 deposit. She just flat out ignored me after that! My fiance kept trying to call and they wouldn’t return the phone calls until he spoke with the vice president of Aston. We got our money back, and I don’t think that was the first time it happened. After the fact I heard a few stories!
I found Marisol Carranza with Platinum Weddings Kauai. She seemed amazing! The only problem.. she was overdue. Any day she would be having her baby. That made me nervous on top of the fact that I just had a horrible experience! She reassured me that wouldn’t be a problem. She had assistants, and I wouldn’t go longer than 2 days without hearing from someone. She even made it a point to tell me, even while she was in the hospital she would be on her phone e-mailing and working. That’s just the type of person she is.
She also said, since I had such a horrible first exerience that she would just take a $500 deposit instead of the $1000 she usually asks for. We went to look at 2 venues without her. Over a 6 week period, she kept saying how she was going to make appointments to see the other places we wantes to look at. That never happened.
The venue and DJ are the only things we needed from her. While we had her, we booked the caterer, cake, and photograher WITHOUT her. She was the one that kept telling me I was running out of time since there aren’t many options on this Island.
I wrote her explaining that I understand she is busy but I haven’t heard from her, and we were still waiting to go see the venues and about finding a DJ.
Finally, after not hearing from her for weeks. I decided to cancel our business with her through another email.
Then she was quick to respond. She told me I could only get $500 back since she had booked a DJ and an appointment with the botanical gardens. WHAT?! Hiring of a DJ was never discussed with me. So i guess she took it upon herself to spend our money how she would like since i still dont have any idea who she hired for a DJ.
Furthermore, the appointment for a botanical gardens walkthrough, so she says, was sheduled six weeks after we asked her to schedule an apointment.
She told me all this after our cancellation email?! I still have not recieved any money back, and she will not respond to my e-mails. We cancelled with her back in October!
So, unless you would like to pay $1000.00 for a brief email pen pal, I would highly recommend you DO NOT USE MARISOL CARRANZA with PLATINUM WEDDINGS KAUAI.
