Do people actually eat the cake?

$200 is expensive for delivery! I’m glad you decided on plenty of cake. Even if it’s not all eaten, dessert leftovers are not a bad thing!

I’ve been to about 200 weddings (I work in the wedding industry) and get cake/desserts at almost all of them.

I can’t remember any of them specifically, first of all, if that helps anyone decide on “quality” of cake. Cake is cake, in my opinion. I also don’t like cake, so there you go. I also haven’t been to a single wedding where the cake was flat out GONE. But I can remember weddings where the unique desserts were eaten quickly: candy, cookies, CAKE POPS especially, cupcakes, mini pies etc. May have to do with the fact that tiny handheld desserts don’t seem substantial so people aren’t embarassed about going back for 2nds, 3rds, 4ths. But if you have to grab a plate and a fork, you’re a little more embarassed to go back for more.

We had leftover cake, and we let people take it home it was so good!! So, yes, they do eat it. 🙂

Yes! Not only did we not have any left at the end of our wedding, but it’s one of the things I look forward to most (aside from watching the way the groom/bride look at one another as they walk down the aisle and the exchanging of vows).

Nearly all of ours went, but that’s because we had this:

milksteak : I think it can depend on how much other food you have. We had cupcakes for people to take away with them at the end of the night. On a personal note I don’t often eat cake at a wedding, I may do if it was quite unique or one of my favourite flavours.

If the cake has buttercream you can bet I will eat it I’ve very rarely met a buttercream I didn’t like. Fondant yeah keep it I’ll skip the cake.

Cake is one of my favorite parts of the reception! The only times I’ve seen it not eaten is when it didn’t taste good or was too weird of a flavor. Neutral flavors like vanilla, almond, lemon, and chocolate with buttercream or fruit fillings always go over well…as long as it’s flavorful and moist. And in case I’m too full to eat mine, I wrap it in a napkin for a treat later but I HAVE to get a piece haha.

I always go for cake! I get disappointed if it’s bland.

I’ve never been to a wedding where we didn’t eat the cake.

We’re serving ours as part of dessert

The last wedding I went to RAN OUT OF CAKE. Honestly, that wedding was a shit show for many reasons, but that’s one of the first things that comes to mind. I don’t even like sweets all that much, but it was a total WTF moment when a whole group of us realized the cake had come and gone in like a minute. Better to have extra than too little.
