Yes, the code is not to ask!

But yes, some people have asked me.  I usually say the price that it sells for, which is quite a bit more than what Fiance paid for it.  Only my friends know he got a really good deal on it…$2300 instead of $4500!

I don’t know about a ring code so to say. haha But if you don’t feel comfortable answering just say you don’t know. I have never had anyone ask me though.

I can’t believe someone would ask!!  I dont know what it cost him, so I couldn’t tell anyone if I wanted to.

Answer their question with a question.

“Why do you ask?”

If I’m asked by a friend I’ll tell them. Other than that I usually will just say “Too much!” and laugh.

Actually, no one has ever asked me this.  Maybe it’s an etiquette thing?  I know I would certainly never ask a girl how much her ring cost.  If someone did ever ask me, at least I could answer honestly by saying “I don’t know.”  I told Fiance I never want to know how much he paid because I personally never want to associate a monetary value with my ring.  It shouldn’t matter how much the ring cost, it’s the meaning behind the ring that really counts.  <— That might be your answer right there if anyone else asks you.  🙂

@chesseplease:

It’s incredibly rude to ask someone that! My reply would probably border on the lines of, “wow, that’s personal”. I wouldn’t tell either. :/ Seems like basic etiquette to me but some people are just nosy. 😉

@chesseplease: I’m still shocked.  Do they go around asking people how much they make too?  Are they in the market for a ring and want to price shop?  Just nosey?  I’m dying to ask my good friend how much her vacation ended up being since I’m plannign a very similar trip, but I dont even think that’s appropriate.

I always used to say I didn’t know because I…didn’t know. Then a few weeks ago Fiance let the cat out of the bag as to how much he paid and I almost wrecked the car. So if anyone ever asked me now, I would not tell them, since I’m sure they would judge and make assumptions.

I think it is rude to ask people specifics of rings, such as size, quality of stone and price in real life. On here it is different because we are usually asking things like that for real purposes, but in real life, it makes people seem sort of tacky when they ask things like that…which is why I can’t get over it when people have the balls to ask.
