I am considering sending out holiday cards, and I am wondering if I should bother or not? Do people really care about getting these, or no? We both have family that live far away whom we don’t see hardly ever. Would it be bad if we didn’t send out cards? What about friends who we do see? I am on the fence.

I like getting cards! The best ones are personalized (not just photo post cards.)

I used to hate sending Christmas cards when I was little, my mom used to make me sit with her and hand write notes to everyone. I do really like receiving photo cards as I think it’s a nice way to “visually” catch up (not on fb lol) so I like them for that reason. I am not a fan of unpersonalized, non-photo cards however as I feel like it’s more a chore/out of obligation than something the sender enjoys (whether it’s true or not that’s how I feel about it).

It is very important to me to send out handwritten cards. I also keep all that have been sent to me in the past.

I always send out handwritten cards and everyone loves receiving them (: I love getting them in the mail too! I’ve never splurged on photo cards though, becuase I don’t think that people care quite that much aha, but maybe I will for our first Christmas after our wedding.

I love receiving cards! I also keep all that I receive. It’s fun to display them at Christmas 🙂

We always send handwritten Christmas cards to all family and friends that we want to make sure know we love them and are thinking of them this holiday season regardless of how often we see them. 🙂
We also LOVE getting them and opening them together in the evenings. It’s such a sweet, heart-warming tradition and as our display of cards we have received grows we feel so loved by family and friends.
In summary: SEND THEM!

@iloverocks: I love all cards but especially pic cards or family update cards. I think it’s sweet to send people holiday greetings. I’m sad i don’t get as many bday cards… A message on fbook isn’t that personal:)

@iloverocks: I like them if there is a personal note. It doesn’t matter if it is a photo card or not as long as they aren’t just the printed message.

i love the cards we get, especially the photo cards or the ones with “family newsletters”. it’s one of my favorite parts of the holiday season.

@iloverocks: Yes we definitely send them. However, I used to buy real cards & write a personal message inside each one but no one ever does that anymore. Handwriting all the messages took hours and since everyone just basically sends a picture card that you create online anymore I finally gave up & printed ours online this year too. I love send Holiday cards & receiving them I just realized that all the hard work wasn’t really worth it since I wasn’t sure anyone actually cared.

@iloverocks: I would be more likely to send cards to just friends I am close with/see regularly and family and include a handwritten, personalized note.
I don’t know that I necessarily see too much of a point in sending personalized cards out to acquaintances or people I am not in contact with. I’ve received cards from acquaintances with very personal notes updating me on everything that their family is doing, and it just seems fake if that’s the only personal type of contact I have with them all year–you know?
By that I mean for ex. a work acquaintance I do not talk to about my personal/family life and who does not talk to me about her personal/family life sending me a letter like that. I appreciate the sentiment, but it’s just too much. I can see how a personalized update would be in order for a family member or someone you were at one point close to and still want to keep in the loop, and that is not what I’m referring to.

@GoldenBee: You could compromise and handwrite a small message on the back for the people who are most important. I feel like that’s what a lot of people I know do.

@soinlove79: My mom just sent me this as an idea for our family Christmas card. I think it’s really cute that one is able to put an update of what each member of the family is up to in this card. It looks pretty easy to create such a template on your own too if you’re computer savvy!
