Around here, men throw diaper parties for eachother. It is similar to a bachelor party but each person who comes brings a box of diapers and they basically just use it as an excuse to drink all day. Sometimes they have a party bus, sometimes they have a kickball/softball tournament, but it is always a drunk fest.
You typically get one year worth of diapers from this party. And when I say everyone does it – EVERYONE does it. He goes all the time.
My husband is DEAD SET against it. He didnt want a bachelor party, he doesnt want a 30th birthday party, and he doesnt want a diaper party. He doesnt like being the center of attention and really doesnt like people buying him things.
I, on the other hand, am all for the free diaper idea. We are not rich by any means and a year of diapers is like the shiny thing I can’t leave alone. I mean, he gets drunk with his friends all the time, why cant they give him diapers? He has purchased diapers for ALL of them for their diaper parties!! SO I was thinking about throwing him a surprise 30th birthday/diaper party and renting a bus or something to drive them around.
I knnnowww it is selfish since he specifically said no, but I am 100% positive he would have an awesome time and love it once he got over it.
What do you think?

I’ve never heard of this, but I would be all about it! Free diapers and free booze?! Yes, please.

I heard of this for the first time last year when my DH’s friend had one. LOVE the idea and will def have one here!!!

they’re not overly common where I’m from. At least as far as I know. But, Darling Husband is having one. It’s basically just a bunch of dudes sitting around grilling out and drinking. The diapers are just the excuse.

Very common here. I can’t tell you how many Darling Husband has gone to. And yes, I have heard from the mothers that the diapers last a LONG time. Once we get PG, which isn’t for another 4 years, we probably won’t have one since i am all for cloth diapering. If his friends insist, which they probably will, we will probably donate the diapers to a non-profit or something

Never heard of it but if people wanted to come over and bring a ton of diapers, I’d be all for it 😛

@MrsB1015: I’ve never ever heard of this, wow! A baby bachelor party where grown men bring diapers!?! Crazy idea! I’d LOVE free diapers, and seeing the men bringing them would be funny too. 🙂 Do you mind me asking what area you’re from?

If you have more than one shower, can you ask that one of them be a diaper shower? Diaper parties aren’t common here, but diaper showers are! Someone actually asked to throw me one, but we are cloth diapering. If he doesn’t like the idea and doesn’t feel comfortable, I wouldn’t push it on him… Plus renting a party bus sounds just as expensive as a year’s worth of diapers.

we do them here. In fact, I made Darling Husband throw one for a friend of ours who had a baby a few weeks ago. They’re not very ellaborate though. Not party busses, etc. It’s ususally an afternoon/evening thing where the guys all get togehter and play poker, or watch football, etc. They drink and eat, but they don’t go out or anything crazy. really, it’s just an excuse for the guys to hang out.
I made Dh throw one, so now that we’re expecting, I’m hoping somone will return the favor (even though we’re going to cloth diaper, I want disposables for nights/ trips, etc).

@MrsFairyBee: St Louis, MO area!
@ellebeerob: SO true!! I guess the bus is silly. I am only having one shower. I have family in two areas but only one of the families offered so I just went with one big shower. Maybe i will just work harder to convince him so then i wont feel bad pushing it so much.

I’m in the south and went to a “Chuggies for Huggies” party. We got beer and they got diapers.

Hu, I’m midwest too but never heard of it. I asked Darling Husband and he hadn’t either. Oh well, guess we’re living in a diaperless bubble!

My Brother-In-Law wants to throw one for Hubs, but we are cloth diapering. But we are not using cloth wipes soooo he gets a wipes party, lol. It’s not insanely popular around here yet, but most people know what a diaper party is.
