I’m sure there are people who lie. It’s the internet, it’s easy to lie.

mrsayala2bee :  I’ve posted pictures of my engagement ring on several threads, and its uncanny how sharp eyed the bees are, its like they have loupes instead of eyes. You’d have to fake it very well to get away with inflating specs, and really what would be the point? Mine is 1.2 carat btw and its not something I feel I want to boost or lie about. I find most posters are quite frank about ring specs, and everyone gushes over the nicely designed ones irrespective of size, even if its on the dainty side.

I round sometimes just because it’s easier and I think it sounds less weird to say “carat and a half” rather than “one point four one carats.”  But it’s not because I want people to think it’s bigger or something.  I just think most people don’t really want that specific of a detail?

I’ve never had anyone ask something like size in real life, nor would I.

I’m getting a 1.23ct cushion set and I’m planning on calling it a carat and quarter or 1.25ct if anyone asks because I like quarter and half marks lol

anonymousbee001 :  She posted on the ring board often and would always share all the detailed specs of her rings, but when she ended up reselling them on DB, the specs she’d list there were different.

I’m not sure if it’s the same person she’s talking about but there was one person who was posting up pictures of her like 3ct diamond all over and then we got a very angry post because she saw an old thread about baking your CZs to get them to look more diamond like. Well, she stuck her ring in the oven based on this thread and apparently the 3ct diamond with amazing specs she had been blasting all over for weeks was actually a rose gold plated CZ – when she stuck it in the oven it ruined the plating on her ring and we got an angry post about how terrible we all are for telling people to bake their rings in the oven.

Ha hahaha “loupes instead of eyes” is brilliant and made laugh so hard – and so true – I’ve had moments where I’ve wanted to ask bees if my appraisal was correct. Some have serious stone superpowers.

And- not sure why anyone would lie. No one knows who anyone is!

That’s not technically true – some of us are friendly outside of the bee.

I think it’s more common try to pass off an alternative stone as a diamond rather than lie about ct size.
