mrsayala2bee :  I stopped reading this thread but caught your comment, so helpfully highlighted 😉 –

Carat weight can face up larger or smaller depending on the depth of the stone. Also people’s size and shape of hands make a big difference.

A lot of women, especially on this forum, designed or shopped for the ring with their partner. Obviously they would know the size in those cases.

my husband picked my ring on his own and he was so proud of himself he told me all about the diamond and how he chose it, had he not I would have asked.

you make it seem weird to know the weight of the stone… but it seems pretty common…

futuremrs2020 :  yep. I have my appraisal, as we got insurance on the ring. This is common, I think

I really don’t care of they lie or not, most times I just scroll through and OOOOHHH and AAAAAHHHH at the pictures, Haha! If I see one I really love then I’ll read the description or ask about it. Some of the smaller, daintier rings are the prettiest to me anyway. You all have some absolutely gorgeous rings!

i do think that the size of the finger can throw the look of the stone size off as well no one has mentioned this ! if you have a skinny finger and a 1 ct and a bigger finger with a 1 ct those are both going to look like different size stones

I don’t think very many of the people we know care sbout diamonds and gems. If I said I had 2 carats they might ask for one for their horse.

As for lying online, I’m in my 50s but look 17. I have no mortgage and a closet stuffed with size 0 clothes.

I would never lie about my 44.7ct IF, F colored diamond ring. I would share a photo of it now, but my Darling Husband and I feel the sudden urge to have our 29th sex romp of the day. I can’t get enough of his 13 inches, and he has to go back to work at his billion dollar company in a few minutes.

mrsayala2bee :  I have have never lied and don’t see the point! Some of my friends have bigger diamonds and they’d probably know I was lying anyway lol

birefringence :   that thread completely changed my outlook on things…

It had me looking at my organised life and clean house wondering if people walk into my home and secretly be thinking that we must be a couple who only have sex only on our birthdays and anniversary!!! I now also secretly wonder if I walk into a not so organised home if they are a couple having sex 4 times a day and don’t have any spare time as a result to  pass the mop around very often!!! 🤔🤣😂

motherbee33 :  unfortunately this is so true! My finger size changes depending on time of month and ranges between a size 8-10. 1 carat would definitely look small on me!

OP: Also depends on settings as chunkier settings provide more finger coverage.

I haven’t lied about my stone size. It’s a tanzanite centre with diamond halo. Centre stone is about .4 carats and have no idea off the top of my head about the TCW of the diamonds but there are 24 and sparkle like mad.

I hadn’t considered that other people might lie and I don’t mean rounding to the nearest number. I’ll need to keep this in mind as am researching stones and sizes just now!

botanistbee :  while true that chunkier settings provides more coverage I feel that more delicate settings make the center stone more prominent and therefore looks larger.  Sometimes center stones can get lost in chunky settings

Goirishgrl :  that’s true. I guess chunky relative to stone size without the metal being the main show if that makes sense. I did see a jeweller with a really chunky tension set diamond in platinum and it was absolutely beautiful, and I’m not usually one for tension settings!

slomotion : Wait are we not all supposed to be looking and fucking like teenagers?

Sometimes I wish I looked like a teenager. So many of my coworkers assume I have children because I guess it should have come with the fat ass? Also, I haven’t been carded since I was like 22. I’ll buy cheap wine at the grocery store and get mad at the seventeen year olds that override the birth date entry, like “CARD ME BITCH”……I turned 25 two days ago.
