Y’all. People are crazy.
Our RSVP deadline is in 6 days and I’ve heard from SO few people. I guess I’ll have to track them down on my own. Haha.
Our RSVP card says this:
For relies, regrets, and questions:
We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
It’s simple and straightforward: an email RSVP. Already, a handful of people have said something along the lines of “we couldn’t get your wedding website to work but we will be there!”
Um…since when does an EMAIL ADDRESS look like a website? They are SO different. I feel like I don’t even need to explain how silly that is! This is 2013…do people really not understand!?
Haha. Sorry bees, I needed to vent somewhere. And I feel so awkward asking people if they’ve received the wedding invitation yet…ughhh. Oh well.

There are a lot people on here who say the same thing, I am starting to get paranoid about when I send my invites out! lol

Uh, yeah. We have a pretty comptent, smart, considerate group of people we invited, and the day after our RSVP deadline, we still had 30% (40 invitations) that we hadn’t heard back from.
If it makes you feel better, a week before the deadline we were only at like 50%, so we did get a TON of RSVPs in the last few days before the deadline. But not enough.

@NAvery: Well hopefully we get some in the last few days! Ughh. Ha.
@FutureMrsJohnston: Are you doing email only? If I could redo mine I would make sure I said “please EMAIL [email protected]__.com

I am def not doing email after reading this! lol! Although I will tell you that so many people who do traditonal rsvp’s with a stamped envelope still dont hear back half the time.. its so inconsiderate!

@TogetherThroughLife: RSVPs are always an issue it seems. That being said, I think going the email RSVP route has definitely worsened your problem. You clearly have guests that are not with today’s technology to think an email address is a website. Also, requesting guests email an RSVP seems more laidback, many of your guests maybe felt it was entirely optional.

@FutureMrsJohnston: I know! We sent nearly 300 invitations and there is NO way I was about to spend that much on stamps. Seriously!
@drummerbride: Yeah, I get that. There are a few key people that we really need to RSVP because of family size, etc. Haha. The people who have been confused…well I was surprised! They are people who use technology all the time. So strange. Oh well. Maybe people just don’t read things thoroughly?

haha glad i’m not the only one who had guests struggle with the “Email: [email protected]_____.com” line. I too had someone say that my wedding website didn’t work for them. Seriously people – use the internet much? something that says @hotmail.com is NOT a wedding website 🙂
I thought email would be more convenient. I got about 1 email/day for the first week…and then nothing. What’s worse is when I see these people posting on Facebook…I know you are online, so RSVP to my wedding already!

Umm the RSVP deadline is not for 6 days. That does mean that guests have 6 full days yet to get you your RSVP. I don’t get the point of these posts. You can’t really complain until after the deadline has passed.
I also think the wording of your RSVP is kind of comfusing. If you are not that familiar with comuters/internet then I could see how they might think the line is a website link. I knwo my own mother would be the one of those guests.

@jasn: I know! I’ve posted on FB a few times about the whole thing and people comment on the status like “I’m coming!” -___-
@j_jaye: My OP, as you can see, is complaining about the fact that people think it’s a website! ha! If they don’t understand, that’s ok…but at least contact me some other way!

I guess people just like waiting for the last minute. It’s crazy to me because I feel like most people already know if they are going or not just respond already lol. I sent out 70 plus invites and i have about 30 replies with 4 days left before my deadline. I doubt the remaining will all be in so i’m prepared to make these calls

We’re now 8 days past our deadline. We had a little more than 50% do our online rsvp. Had to track down the rest…we still have 2 couples out who have been reminded, resent links, called, text etc…and yes they normally email and text with no problems. We’re finalizing on Monday so fingers crossed for them.

Honestly, I have forgotten an email RSVP on more than one occasion. If I don’t respond the second I open it, I forget, because there isn’t an envelope sitting on my counter to remind me to send it back. Invitations usually get put away, and I hate leaving things on my fridge, so that doesn’t serve as the reminder for me.
I’m not incompetent with email; I’m on a computer for my job the whole day with multiple email addresses. I just need a physical reminder to mail it back.

I KNOW! I had to freaking track down grown a$$ adults. I was so annoyed, can’t be that hard! I know I always RSVP before the deadline.
Also, people that change their minds 2 days prior to the wedding…oh yes, so nice.
