Depends on your hormone levels more than the test I think. But you could try it. Be sure to use first morning pee for best results and don’t be too bummed if it’s negitive, because it may just be too early to tell. π Good luck!

It really depends on how many days past ovulation you are and since you probably don’t know, it won’t hurt to test. You canusually see a positive pregnancy test starting around 10-12 days past ovulation; it depends on how much HcG is in your blood but that is considered the time it is in amounts that can be verified by testing. Use your first morning pee on the first for your best shot.

I read they only work if you have a pretty long luteal phase already, so if you had, say, a 15 day luteal phase, then it is possible that a + would show up 10 dpo. Maybe even if you had a 14-day LP, it might show up 9 dpo. But if you are like me, both LP’s I’ve had have been 10 and 9 days respectively, so a “5 day early” test would never work for me at 5 or 4 dpo only.
It is SOOOOOO hard but I think most people say if you wait until the day of your period to test, you are highly likely to get an accurate + or -. I haven’t had the will power the past 2 months to do this, but I think I might have a little more this month bc early pregnancy tests (I was using FRERs) are freaking expensive!!!!

I used a blue dye test (clear blue easy, I think?) & a dollar store cheapie around 10 DPO and they were both negative. I went out and bought a Frist Response Early Result and tested when my period was supposed to be there and got a very clear, definite positive.
I think if you’re just a few days from your period the FRER will be the most accurate, but if you don’t know when you ovulated it’s possible to be too early to tell. That’s why they sell them in pairs! Test with first morning urine on the first, then again on the 4th or 5th if the first test is negative.
Good luck π

@cowgirlace: Yea I have a 14 day LP so I should be able to test 5 days before hopefully lol.
@DaneLady: Ohh sounds like I will have hubby pick up one for me and I will test on the 1st then on the 4th or 5th π I am having some cramping now… Im either 4 to 6 days past ovulation. I feel bloated, cramping and sore boobs. Could I be having signs of preg symptoms yets?

You haven’t even implanted yet, so you will not have pregnancy symptoms yet. What you have are symptoms from the progesterone which rises after you ovulate and give you symptoms similar to pregnancy symptoms because they are the same thing early in pregnancy. Early pregnancy symptoms are exaggerated pms symptoms because they come from the same horomone which you can respond to differently each cycle.
The 5 day early pregnancy tests will work if you implant early enough, but you can’t tell for sure when you implant (although if you’re the 1/3 of women who get implant bleeding, you may, but it could just be random spotting). If you implant at 10 DPO, you won’t be able to tell for at least 2 days, so you wouldn’t get a positive because you weren’t pregnant at 9DPO. You may get a positive if you are pregnant at 9DPO, so it may be worth it, but it’s likely you’ll get a false negative even if you will be pregnant.

I may be in the minority, but I tested and got a very clear positive with the FRER pretty early, I believe. My LMP was October 11th, and I tested positive on October 30th. My cycles are very regular so I know I wasn’t going to get my period til about November 8/9 or so.
But like PPs have said, there’s no harm in trying BUT don’t let it get you down just yet if you get a negative! Could be early. Our bodies all work differently. π

I got a positive on a FRER 5 days before AF was due, it was light but definately there, and kept getting darker each day.
I have heard of some women not showing positive on a FRER until much closer to the time their AF was due, so if you get a negative that early you are not necessarily out!

I got a positive First Response test at 9DPO, 4 days before my period was due. So YES, they can work, but it is more about your levels and your LP length than “5 days before your period is due.”
