Not really on my side; my uncle had twins, but none of the women nor my grandparents did. However, there are quite a few fraternal twins on my husband’s side. From what I understand, that can skip a generation and be passed down to our daughters, but doesn’t increase our chances at all.

And I’m relieved for it! 🙂 I’m secretly scared that our first shot will result in twins, and we’ll have to learn how to take care of two babies when we’ve never even taken care of one.

@stefanielovesjamie:  Well one of my cousins has a set of twins who are 5 now, and DH’s dad is a fraternal twin. Also one of DH’s cousins from his dad’s side is pregnant with twins right now. I’m secretly hoping when I get pregnant it’ll be with twins!

Yes, they do. My mother is a twin (her twin passed away), & my husband’s father is a twin.

It should be interesting if we have twins! The family is due for a set though, since none of our siblings or cousins have had any yet.

@stefanielovesjamie:  My mom’s cousin has a set of fraternal twins (a boy and a girl)…..and my dad’s brother has a set of identical twins that are both boys as well as his cousin having a set of fraternal twins that are also boys. I have read that the twins get passed down through the maternal (mine) side, and that the father (FI) can pass the gene down to his daughters but that it does not mean he will have any effect on if the woman will have twins or not.

Ha, do they ever!

Father-In-Law is a fraternal twin (2 of 10 siblings).  There’s another set of fraternal twins, I believe, in the 10 siblings, and at least a few of FIL’s siblings have had twins, though Father-In-Law didn’t.

Mother-In-Law is one of 8, and I believe there’s a set of twins in there.  Her sister had twins.

My paternal grandmother has twins on her side, as does my maternal grandmother.

No one in our immediate families has had twins yet.

We are so going to get twins.

My husband’s dad and grandpa are twins.  But since they are identical twins we don’t really have greater chances of having twins since identical twins are total flukes and not genetic. He was hoping we’d have twins but we only had one, and thank god since my stomach got big enough to fit 2 as it was… lol.  Hubby’s sister had 2 girls, both singletons, too.

@stefanielovesjamie:  Both my grandmothers had twins and my great-grandmother was a twin. I believe twins are determined by the mother so high chances if I ever have kids that it would be twins.
