My nails are normally really brittle, but when I take prenatal vitamins, my hair and nails look amazing. Maybe give those a try?

@Earlybride: Lol of course you can, they sell them at Wal Mart and Target or any grocery store right next to the aspirin and band aids. Lots of women just take them for the side benefits, or when they are trying to get healthy to prepare for getting pregnant.

These aren’t vitamins, but you can try dipping your finger nails in a little olive oil or jojoba.  I’m a big fan of natural remedies.  I often will take a little olive oil and massage it into my hands and nails!

@Earlybride: You can do it as often as you like since it’s just olive oil.  I do it whenever I remember, lol.  Moreso when my hands feel extra dry. Like kerensa said above, once a day would be plenty! Use it like you use hand lotion, essentially… when you need it.  I swim a lot and do a lot with my hands, so I tend to have the same problems as you when it comes to my nails.  Sometimes it is due to using a lot of nail polish/remover or B12/Vit A deficiencies also, so make sure you’re eating well and keep your nails moisturized.  They have nail moisturizers you can buy, but I found olive oil/essential oils do the same (cheaper and more natural).  Hope that helps!

I take Biotin which aids in building stronger hair and nails, plus it makes your hair super soft!  Good luck!

@Earlybride: Besides prenatals what did you get? Just curious. 🙂

I was going to recommend Biotin like another poster. I take mine usually 3x per day and my hair looks amazing lately.
