Reminds me of an obscene shanty sung by some less-than-favorable women at a Renfaire.

I’m undecided.  I don’t hate it.  I actually think it could be really cute.  I just don’t know if there will be people making obnoxious comments.  That would be my concern – people name their kids after flowers, plants all the time.  Maybe middle name?

Not so much. I think many parents are just trying too hard.

If you really like the name, I would say use it for a middle name. I think it could be a cute name for a girl, but I don’t know if it’d fit the woman after she grows up.

Plant names and other unusal names are pretty common where I live. It certainly wouldn’t stand out in a huge way here. I’ve had classrooms full of interesting names: Zephyr, Journey, Wolfie, Piper, Clementina, Seneca, Adonis, Verity. I like Clover!

I don’t love it, but I don’t hate it either. It’s not too out there for me on the weirdness scale. At least it’s spelled correctly.

My friend has a cat named Clover. It seems more suitable for an animal or a character on My Little Pony.

The name of the mayor of Sydney is Clover Moore and she is a dignified and excellent woman.

I don’t think it’s trying too hard.  It’s not like you made it up.  It’s in the baby name books, it’s just not popular.  Not everyone wants to name their kids Emma and Aidan.  If you like it you should go for it, especially since it has a connection to your heritage.

My name isn’t popular but it’s a normal name.  I never suffered because of it and I have always been glad to be the only one at school or work. I’ve never wished I were named Jennifer or Stephanie which were the popular names of my time.

I actually love that name, and we had it on our name list, but I decided it’s too out there for me. Maybe it could be a nickname for something?

    Nope. That’s a name you’d give a cow, not a child.
