I worked in the wedding industry for 15 years and no you do not tip your vendors in Australia but saying that I’ve been out of the industry for a year now. American trends are starting to creep into Australia though like the whole Bridal Shower thing which I went to my first one last Sunday. Normally if you are going to do anything its a kitchen tea! (Most girls that went last week had to google what a Bridal Shower was) We don’t normally tip at a restaurant either unless the service is exceptional since wages are very good whereas they are not in the USA from what I understand and poeple live off of the tips.

No way Jose. I never tip anywhere (in Australia), and weddings are no exception.

American bees ask because tipping is part of their culture, but it’s not always obvious which services require tipping and which don’t. e.g. they’re not sure whether to tip the caterer because they’ve probably never hired a caterer before.

Lucky! sad to say but I dread tipping some of my

    vendors. They are expensive enough!

Americans tip vendors because their minumum wage is very different than here in australia

No. Our minimum wage isn’t anything stupid like $5 an hour.

I tip in restaurants, but have no intentions of tippingour wedding vendors. I feel like their inflated prices are high enough!

Agree with others, i’ll give tips at restaurants by rounding up the bill but other than that it’s not necessary here – it’s such a big thing in the US as their minimum wage is so low that generally they survive off the tips more so than their wage
