- Wedding: July 2012
We recently got married at a wedding venue in August. It was brand new and when we booked the place 8 months ahead of time – we did take a leap of faith, that the plot of grass they showed us was going to have a patio, a tent and bathrooms before August (all in our contract).
As it turns out, one week before our wedding nothing was completed. In the end the patio was laid a few days before the wedding – but there was a 30ft+ area surrounding it that was dirt/mud and a silt (construction) fence surrounding it that we were not allowed to take down. In addition, the tent was put up two days later than promised, and we had vendors that had to be turned away and rescheduled because of this. In the end, we threw it together best we could – but several family members missed the rehearsal dinner due to the construction delays. Not to mention all the added stress this caused us – let’s just say we did not enjoy the week leading up to the wedding.
We paid good money to rent the space. I’m thinking of contacting a lawyer to get our money back but I’m not sure if we can. Any lawyers out there have an idea or fellow bees have any experience??
