I don’t think you need the shuttle

It’s a nice treat if you can manage it but I don’t think it’s necessary or expected.

I spoke to my planner about this and she said it is not necessary. We are not providing a shuttle. We are planning on over 200 guests so there is no way! Just make sure they have good directions and ample parking is available.

zuzik26:  Will the people in the hotel have cars? We did a shuttle only because the 50+ people (MIL’s family) in our hotel flew in and did not have cars. we had a shuttle take them from the airport to hotel (arranged with hotel) and a shuttle form the hotel to the venue. They were all aware of this before hand so they didn’t have to worry about renting cars

Although during the day some could get drink themsevles over the legal limit to drive. A shutte would be welcome for the out of towners, will they all have cars? Do you have Uber available? You could always have several uber cars ready at the end of the reception, although I have read some nightmare stories about that option on here.

You can always think of it this way, a shuttle is less expensive than a DUI or an accident. Even those under the legal limit can have serious consequences if they have an accident.

We are doing a shuttle from a hotel where we have a block of rooms to our venue (ceremony and reception are at the same place). The biggest reason is because there really isn’t good parking at our venue (you have to pay at a public lot) and then there is a little bit of a walk from the parking lot to the venue. A shuttle will be able to drop people off at the door. People can, of course, drive if they want.

In your situation I would say no.  Not a late night reception, very few people, sounds like cabs would be available.  I am looking into a shuttle for mine but I have a lot of people who like to drink, nearest hotel is 15 minute or so drive and they are already traveling 3 – 5 hours by car and then staying in a fairly expensive hotel so I want to treat them to a shuttle so they don’t need to figure out designated drivers.  Also, it is a rural area so cabs are not easily available.  If cabs/uber were readily available I don’t think I would provide a shuttle.

They are all from out of town which means they will all have cars!  Unless there’s no parking at your venue than no way, like everyone else’s wedding guests know it’s up to them to get to it on their own!

I should add that our reception is at the hotel where our room block is so people can just mosey on upstairs and not have to drive.

I don’t think it’s necessary at all, especially if they have cars. It’s not too far away, and if anyone wants to drink a lot they can arrange a ride with someone else. I mean, say you were having a wedding in a city where all your guests lived 15 minutes away. Would you consider a shuttle then?
