Yes we’ve chosen a first dance song, which I love (Lucky by Jason Mraz), but we really don’t dance (I’m awful at it) and I hate being stared at, which I know I’m going to get plenty of on our wedding date. Originally we weren’t going to have a first dance at all, b/c my fiance doesn’t really care for it either and our parents don’t want a mother/son or father/daughter. However, when we met with our venue’s onsite coordinator she pretty much pushed us into having one immediately after we enter the reception. It’s a buffet and everyone should have been through and will be sitting down eating as we’re announced, and she said people will be expecting a grand “something” and the first dance was the most logical. But the more I think about it, I’m paying for this, and should be happy, vs. making the onsite coordinator happy. Any thoughts? What could the “grand gesture” be if we don’t do a dance?
