I found a decent priced reverend on craigslist who lives about an hour from us. It looks like he’s been doing weddings for a while and I plan on setting up a meeting to make sure he is ordained.
He charges $75 for the ceremony but because of the traveling it would be $125, he then offered to do the ceremony and rehearsal for $175 and the ceremony, rehearsal, and pre meeting before the wedding for $225. I’m assuming that the pre meeting is just to go over the readings and whatnots. I was thinking about just the ceremony and the pre meeting becuase I don’t think we really need him for the rehearsal.Did anyone else NOT have a rev for their rehearsal? Did it go okay? Should I pay the extra $50 just to have him there? We’re on a tight budject and this is cheap compared to others who want $350+

We had a friend doing our and it didn’t cost us anything. We just went online and registered him. Our state doesn’t require any local registration. I don’t know what your local laws are but it is something you might chech into.
My FH wrote the whole ceremony, but there are some really good ones online that you can personalize for yourselves.

I can’t speak from experience but the reverend should probably be there IMO. Otherwise there could be some timing differences I think. Unless you are having a really simple ceremony but even getting the timing of the unity candle could be off. Or will you go over that in the pre-meeting?

I know it was helpful for us to have our pastor at the rehearsal. We were able to iron our all the specifics of timing as well as who would be where at what point during the ceremony.
