I was a reader recently in a wedding and honestly until I read this post it didn’t occur to me that I didn’t get a gift.  So I wasn’t bothered by it.  The couple didn’t have a formal Rehearsal Dinner it was just them, the bridal party, the usher and my husband and I.  They paid for all of our food and drinks and just verbally thanked everyone.  I know the bride gave the two bridesmaids a gift the morning of the wedding.

i think a heartfelt note would be very nice. i’m with vintage–it didn’t occur to me to give a gift to a reader (not that it’s bad), but yes, i think a card is completely appropriate.
