I still don’t understand why he says he prefers me without make up. Nothing’s sexier than discolored skin and short eyelashes apparently..haha
If he likes me that way better, that’s fine. I just don’t want him to think I’m letting myself go just because we live together.

I can remember watching my mom does this before my dad came home from work. She would brush her teeth, brush her hair, touch up her makeup, put on fresh lipstick, and dab a bit of perfume behind her ears every day about fifteen minutes before he was due to arrive. I can still remember her stressing to me how important it was to make him feel like she still fussed over him.
Now I almost unconsiously find myself doing the same thing. Even though my husband has seen me without makeup, dirty, and even bald and vomiting (chemo), I still like to look nice for him. So if I get home first, I do pretty much what my mother did…except I skip the perfume and use lip gloss instead of lipstick. If he gets home before I do, I will touch up in the car before driving home.

Haha in the very beginning of our relationship I would sneak out of bed in the morning and put a little powder on so that I looked remarkably refreshed and glowing first thing in the morning. At this point, in the midst of dissertation hell, there are days he comes home and I look up from the dining room table, in my PJs, and just say “I haven’t showered…in like two days…sorry.”

Only very rarely, if I feel like a schlub. It mainly just involves some under eye concealer and blush so that I look alive. But he sees me constantly where I’m pretty rough looking!

Besides, I have night classes so he’s usually home before me.

I get home an hour after SO, but I do primp a little in the car, in the driveway, before I go inside…brush the hair, grab a piece of gum, a little chapstick (he HATES lip stick/gloss) and a little spritz of perfume…nothing over the top.

He’s usually home when I get home from work so I already have the full face… If we’re in a situation soon where I get home before him I would probably do my normal routine because even when I feel like I look horrible he still is all over me, lol.

That’s an awesome memory of your moms routine and your husband seeing you through chemo!

This question cracked me up. We get home from work together (he picks me up from the metro), and we both immediately either change into jeans (if we’re going somewhere) or pajamas if we’re staying in (he wears his nakiepajamas). …No, there’s no sprucing up in our household.
That said, I do get dressed up to go out, and I just about never leave the house without straightening my hair and putting foundation and mascara on. He loves me in my ‘jamas just the same.

Nope I never even think of doing that

I always do this! If I get home before he does I do a quick make-up check, fix eyeshadow-eyeliner creases, etc. with a Q-tip, use a blotting paper to get rid of any shine, run a brush through my hair – minor stuff like that. If he’s home first I get a hug and kiss and then head straight to the bathroom for a quick fix. 🙂 I care more about looking good for him than anyone else.

I always want to mouthwash before we…umm..get down to business…but he says he doesn’t want me to because it kills the spontaneity. I’d rather be minty…but if he doesn’t mind…haha

Not on purpose.
But I’ve usually taken my shower by the time he gets home. I take a shower as soon as I walk through the door lol
