@Eglantine:  I’m with you! I am really not a fan, I will eat it at birthday parties and such not to be rude but I would rather have a pie or cheesecake any day! In fact my Fiance briefly considered the idea of nixxing the cake in favor of a dessert we would both like (he is also not a fan). But because of cost of alternatives and that everyone else seems to love wedding cake we will suffer. I am sure the only taste of our cake will be when we cut it LOL

If I go to a wedding and there is no cake, I’m super bummed. It’s one of the highlights for me. (not like im there for the cake but it’s one of my faves). I don’t care for dry tasteless cake though. I won’t waste my dessert quota on that.

I love cake, especially wedding cake which is so much better than the generic grocery store cake, boxed cake, or restaurant cake. A real, quality cake is not something most of us get to enjoy on a regular basis. i can make amazing cookies, brownies, bars, scones, pies, etc. at home any day and find them out and about, but the kind of cake you get at a wedding… I only get that at a wedding or at local restaurants with a crazy high quality baker and then it’s like $9 or more a slice.

I’d be really upset if there wasn’t a cake at a wedding I went to, but I’d never let the bride or groom know that.

It depends on the cake. I’m not a fan of icing though, so I’ve very particular about the cake I eat.

It’s really shameful I’m admitting this… but this was my lunch the other day… yes, not one but TWO peices of cake

I don’t really care for cake that much. Yeah there’s some awesome cake out there, but I would say 80% of the time its not that great. Like generic cake from the grocery store bakery, blech, but generic cookies from the grocery store are generally pretty good. I also hate most icing. I find it waaay too sweet. My fiance however loves cake, if it wasn’t for that we’d totally be having wedding pie.

When I go to a chinese buffet, my dessert plate is piled high with the tiny squares of cakes…. I just LOVE cake! Why don’t they just bring the whole sheet over to my table?

I have to say that there are 3 types of cake:1)regular baked and iced cake, very typical can be made in cups, comes in many flavours 2) angel food cake, light fluffy sweet and simple (my favorite) and #3) cheese cake! If you make it well and it’s a lip smacking flavor (or plain, thank you New York) its incredible. So for me I like 2 & 3…. Oh s#%* Iforgot ice cream cake! Ok so I’m just not the biggest fanoff baked icedcakes, everything else works for me

    I don’t like cake. I hate the texture, and I don’t like frosting/fondant.

That being said, I wouldn’t turn down icecream cake.
