This might seem like a silly post but I’m curious to know about others. Me and my fiance like two totally different types of music. We are so alike in every other way except this. While I enjoy soca and reggage my fiance likes techno and house music. Whenever we go somewhere in my car its my music that plays which he must deal with and the same when I go in his car I must deal with his music. I do try to like his music and there are a few songs I dont mind but really I cant get into it when he plays it in our room on the computer I make him put head phones on! I’m soo glad we are having a destination wedding and not an at home reception cause I know there would be a dispute about what music would be played at our wedding LOL

Not really. We have some common ground when it comes to hip-hop, but that’s about it. I’m a huge alternative/indie/folk fan, and he’s more into hard rock and classics.
We listen to the top 40 radio stations when we’re together because generally they play stuff we both can tolerate.

We have common bands that we like, coldplay, the fray – some rap/hiphop (talib kwali, mos def, kid cudi)
But I grew up listening to hardcore, metal, indie and a lot fo underground stuff that he just finds weird.

We do like the same kind of music, and we also like the same kind of almost everything else – from food to how we like to workout to what we like to do for fun. He’s the first man I’ve ever known who was so much like me, it’s almost scary, lol. When he told me the music he would like for our wedding it was exactly what I was thinking, too. (We even seem to read each other’s minds sometimes . . . spooky . . . lol).

We have particular bands that we both like, but otherwise, we don’t really listen to the same stuff. We tolerate each other’s music when we’re in the car together. 😉
@garden_bride: Ahh! Coldplay is one of our favorite “common” bands. 🙂 Yellow is actually our song!

We have similar tastes, but there are things of his I won’t listen to and vise versa.

@Gemstone: Green Eyes is ours :):):)…I lovelove them. Trying to go see them for the second time in august!

I’m a little bit country; He’s a little bit rock and roll 🙂
We both have pretty ecclectic taste though, and will listen to (almost) anything that’s playing happily, but our favourite genres are not the same.

We have a very common music taste but there’s still a few that I won’t listen too and same thing for him.

@garden_bride: That’s a great one, too! Unfortunately, they’re not coming anywhere near us this summer. I’ve seen them live twice and am dying to see them again!

We do have common ground, but both of us have diverse taste and there are bands and genres that one of us likes that the other hates. We both love indie music, classic rock and old jazz/soul/motown. He likes folk/bluegrass music, which I hate and I like 80s hair metal, which he can’t stand.

Actually the only the only music me and my fiance both like is 80″s!!! But we wouldnt play that in our cars all the time!

For the most part yes – I’ve kind of turned him on to country music which is a huge plus for me. We both really enjoy some rap here and there but we do have our differences too. He loves bands like the strokes and the killers while i enjoy it sometimes you don’t really see those on my list of pandora radio stations. In return i’m a huge jimmy buffett fan and i think he could live without it.

Yes, and its changed together. I make him a CD every year for his birthday and he finds his “new favorites” from that. 🙂
Looking back at the first cd I made him though….ugh. Such. bad. taste.

I like classical and he likes Linkin Park! We both are ok with classic rock and some top 40 stuff, though. He is nice enough to not put the screaming stuff on when I’m around, and I don’t put Bartok and Hindemith on when he’s around. 🙂
