I like it warm, SO likes it colds since he’s always sweating! He keeps the FAN on in the WINTER! He’s going to die in the summer bc I told him that I rarely turn the air on! It was 80 degrees the other day and I told him he should be happy that he was not spending the night that day! I told him he can gladly turn the air on whenever he wants but he will be paying the electric bill then!

I usually tend to be the warmer one, and Fiance is the colder one. We have a programmable thermostat which changes throughout the day/night, and it’s set to where I think we’re both comfortable. I can not stand to be hot, so we tend to keep it on the cooler side in the winter (we both like to snuggle with blankets) and in the summer I keep it around 72. I can not sleep if it’s too hot, and it causes me to get migraines. In the winter, since he’s usually colder, he has an electric foot warmer at the bottom of his side of the bed. That way we’re both comfortable.

I get the headaches from heat too, and just generally feel like crap and get REALLY grouchy when I’m hot. My body just refuses to adjust and I’ve lived most of my life in a house with no AC so it’s not a time issue.
I don’t mind conserving energy in the winter – and it is about the only time I can stand to snuggle with Fiance longer than a couple minutes! He doesn’t mind the cold or the heat very much. He will wear only a sweatshirt most of the winter while I’m bundled up from head to toe. In the summer, he would sit in the house with no AC all summer, just a ceiling fan.
Agree, I can’t sleep when I get hot, I just keep waking up, tossing and turning.
Definitely going to try the dehumidifier out, and go from there.

We don’t fight about it, I’m always colder than everyone (hypothyroidism) so I’m just already used to bundling up in a blanket if I’m cold and letting the thermostat be set to please normal people.

If we had to do it to afford our bills, I would gladly give up AC… but when it comes down to it, if we can afford it, and it’s a reasonable temp (72-75, or higher when we are out of the house)… I would just rather pay more and be comfortable. Once I have a “real” job after grad school, I will gladly give up some personal spending to pay most of the AC bill!
The frustrating part is that he seems to think I’m exaggerating how hot I am, because he is almost always comfortable, and is not bothered by humidity.

We definitely have differences! I like it colder. I always grew up with the AC set between 70-72. In his house, they used the attic fans and won’t turn on the air until it is sweltering outside.
However, I am also the weird one. I like having the air on, but sleeping underneath the comforter whereas he’ll keep it warmer and only sleep with a sheet. For me, I think it brings back memories of having to spend the night at my grandma’s house (which, sadly, I did not enjoy), and this is how they’d keep their house.

i am always cold and he is always hot, so yes we do!

I am a reptile .. I could keep our house at sauna temperatures . Fiance is the exact opposite always hot and always setting the thermostat to frigid temps.

No we don’t fight about it…we both like it to be about 70 degrees. We have a tiny apartment that is sealed pretty well, so it doesn’t take much to keep it cool 🙂 And if one of us wants to turn the air down we do, no biggie.

I am really lucky that Fiance and I are both warm-natured people and prefer to keep the thermostat at 68-69, at all times. I cannot stand the heat. I certainly cannot sleep in it. I’m just happy that I’m marrying someone who isn’t all crotchety about the electric bill.

We’re both complete opposites, I really feel the cold and Fiance runs warm. So we always disagree about what temperature to have.

Lol thats not arguement matter thank god but we dont exactly agree but we compromise. I’m easily cold and he’s easily hott…. We just keep it around 70-72 i believe and we don’t touch it. I’ll just be the one wearing a sweatshirt when he’s in shorts. He normally just laughs at me and the way i say “BAAABBBEEE i’m COLD! *shivering*” And he’ll bump it up a degree or something.
We have propane heat in the new house tho and we don’t have the money to fill the tank right now. so in feb/march we had a few nights where it would get down to the 30’s at night. and i just had to brave it. With the price of propane.. i’ll just get an extra blanket. lol.

Thankfully both SO and I completely DESPISE being hot. I could never survive anywhere with hot, humid weather! We usually keep the house between 68 and 70 and it’s wonderful.
