Do you and your SO talk to each other with a special tone or use baby talk?

We do this too. not goo goo ga ga, but definitely not how we talk to other people. We also usually only talk like that when we’re alone, and not in front of company. Only when we’re being silly do we do that in front of people. I don’t know why?

We also don’t call each other by our names (except to introduce each other). Occasionally I have and it almost feels weird. LOL.

I’m sure it’s pretty common!

We don’t use each other’s names when we’re talking to each other. We’ll say “hon” or “love”. But we will make lovey-dovey statements about ourselves or each other using our names, like Darling Husband will walk up to me and say, “The [DH] needs a hug,” or “I love my [linguo42]”. That’s pretty much it, though.

But my friend and her boyfriend do the whole, “Mew. I love mew,” thing and text each other cat faces and work the word “mew” into everything. Barf. LOL

No, not at all. How we speak to each other is the exact same as we speak to everybody else.

But 99% of the time he calls me “baby” and I call him “honey.” It’s not to be cutesy poo, it’s just what we’ve naturally always called each other.

Totally the same as you guys, we have our own way of talking, and never call each other by name

We have pet names and he never calls me by my real name. When he introduces me it sounds weird for him to use my full name. I usually call him by his pet name too but I do sometimes call him his full name and it’s not weird…hmmm I wonder why. We definitely use a different tone too but not usually around anyone else unless it’s like our siblings (who we spend a lot of time with).

Yep we do. We rarely call each other by our real names, and we talk to each other in a much softer tone than we do to other people.

I hardly ever call him by his real name!

We always talk in “toddler talk”…I don’t know how to explain it.  Like “I be tired” and stuff.  I don’t know why!  Haha.

No we talk to each other the same except we call each other babe or baby. Also like KatyElle, not to be cute just because we have since the beginning called each other that!

My coworker talks to her husband in a different tone on the phone every day and I cant stand it!

Yes definitely. It’s obvious when I”m talking to my Darling Husband on the phone while I’m at work because I use a much softer tone and I’musually laughing the whole conversation because he is so funny.

No – we talk to each other the same except we call each other nicknames and such (versus real names).  We joke around more with each other than we do with other people though.

Darling Husband can’t stand people using baby talk (who aren’t talking to babies) so that would never fly in our marriage.

Yes, sometimes I notice we talk in our own language too! Its baby this and baby that. haha one day he was in my living room talking and my 5 yr. old niece was playing on the floor… she hurt her finger and I called ‘her’ by saying baby!!!

He completely lost track of what he was talking to my mother about and turned his entire body and attention to me and said uh?!!! It was so cute and romantic. This happened twice in that visit. I was so done away with how his mind/body he thinks his name is baby now!!! Awww,,, I love my Baby!

I have a friend who only talks in baby talk to her boyfriend; it drives me NUTS!

The only time I really do that is if I’m joking around or if I’m really sick and feeling like a baby- haha.
