Sometimes… I’m rarely fully dressed when at home so it really depends on what I’m wearing, haha.

@BruinBeeMPH:  I don’t buzz in anyone I don’t know. If there are in my building already, I certainly don’t open it (um, how did they get in??) and if the chain isn’t on the door already, it’s going on.

@BruinBeeMPH:  I go so far as to hide and stay perfectly still so they can’t see or hear me!

Since having baby, now toddler and living in split level house I rarely answer the door unless I know who it is.

This hasn’t happened to me yet, but I could see myself answering the door.

@adoc86:  “I read a story a few weeks ago about a woman who opened her door to a guy dressed like a UPS employee. She was holding her 3-month-old son when she opened the door and the guy pepper sprayed both her and the baby so he could barge in the house. Unfortunately for him he didn’t know that the woman also owned a pit bull

Shit like that creeps me out. Ugh. What a horrible experience for that poor woman and her tiny baby.

OP, I’ve never thought not to answer the door for any one – stranger, delivery guy etc. TBH. I think it probably comes from being raised in a ‘safe’ country, in a very safe city and neighbourhood. If I lived in a not-so-safe area, or in a country where guns are available to the general public, I think I’d be a lot more cautious.

The only time I answer the door is when I’m expecting a delivery I know I need to sign for. Otherwise, I never answer the door. If we are expecting someone Darling Husband is usually the one who opens the door.

Nope, basically never. If I know we are expecting a delivery that needs to be signed for I might, but generally not and that doesn’t happen often at all. Too many sketchy people out there.

I am more likely to answer the door then take a call from a # that I don’t recognize

@allyfally:  I just died laughing as I totally pictured that hahaha.

I hide as well if I’m home alone. Scary!

I never answer the door unless I’m aware someone is on their way. I live in a bad neighborhood and people get robbed that way by opening there door to strangers all the time, so absolutely not, not even if I lived in a good area.

If I lived in a house I would answer the door (but use the peep hole first!) but since I live in an appartment where you have to be buzzed into the building it totally freaks me out if someone knocks on my door, so I typically wouldn’t answer it.  If someone I didn’t know buzzed me I def would not let them in.

At night, never, Fiance will answer if he’s home – we have a security gate so people have to ring the buzzer and we have tinted windows so if i can’t see someones head over the gate or if it’s someone i don’t know i don’t answer it, sometimes i’ll talk through the intercom but most times i just pretend i’m not home.

I live in a gated complex right now so if somone knocks on my door it’s usually a repairman, a mail carrier, or someone in the apartment above or next to us so yes, I do usually answer the door. Before we moved to this complex though I would never answer the door unless Fiance was home. Strangers knocking at the door usually just meant somone was trying to convert me or sell me something.
