Never! But I’ve been told it’s not a good idea to hide because if they are checking the place out to potentially break in they might be encouraged that no one is home. Now I have a dog and don’t worry about this so much. But I still never open the door. Rather safe than sorry.

We do not open the door. We have a peephole and keep our blinds down and curtains drawn for a reason. The next door neighbor girl (who is like six) is way too fond of knocking on our door at like 9 at night and I am just not going to encourage that.

I used to with a knife in hand just like I came from cutting something up in the kitchen, then I decided if I was that uncomfortable with answering the door for strangers that I just shouldn’t answer the door. I don’t owe to a stranger to answer the door so they can tell or sell me something. Go away!

I live in a secured apartment building, so if someone is knocking on my door it’s usually maintainence or the office delivering packages, so yeah I open my door. My current building is not as secure as my last one, but it’s secure enough that I feel safe opening the door.

Nope. I even live in a super safe area, with little crime. I don’t answer the door or phone unless I am expecting someone (I live pretty far from friends/family so if it was them, I’d know they were coming.)

“Thats why You never answer the door without a gun” – is a famous phrase in our house. My DH won’t let me answer the door without my gun with me. He won’t do it either so he taught me early on. Even if i’m expecting a package delivery or a repair man I always have my gun in the holster in the crook of my back just in case. If DH is home and a wierd car pulls in the driveway I yell for him to answer it and he gets his gun off the nightstand before answering the door.

I live in a large appartment complex and have become really close friends with on of my neighbors. We randomly stop by each others places quite often with out calling first. We developed a special knock, so we will know who it’s is. Otherwise if I’m not expecting someone I will not open the door because tons of salesman somehow get into our building.

Never. Years ago a co-workers wife answered the door to two well dressed young men selling books or something. They busted in and well you can guess the rest. Ever since that day I have never opened my door to anyone I did not know. Scares the bejeezus out of me.
