Other bees might disagree, but I beleive that ghosts are demons who are messing with people.

I have heard people say that they had a ghost come into their room and totally freaked them out,like scared to death. The thing didnt say anything, just looked at them,no smiling,nothing. And yet it looked like a family member that is dead.

I just donr beleive that it is a ghost of the dead. Y? Because my loving grandma, grandpa,mother, great uncle etc would not purposely scare me half to death! If it was really them, they would talk to me, smile, anything but scare me.

If I died(when I die), why would I make noises in the house of the living? Y freak them out like that? And if I cant talk to the living and making noises is the only way to communicate, I wouldnt do it!! Making random noises wont help you communicate in any way.

So these ghosts are demons. Messing with people around the world, looking like dead family members, shadows,etc.

Oh well. I guess we will all find out when its our turn to pass away. 🙁

I just thought of the closest thing to a ghostly experience I’ve seen.  My friend and I lived in the same house senior year of college, she was in a room by herself upstairs, and I was downstairs.  We rearranged her room when we first got there because there were two beds, and basically made it more spacious.  That first night, when she turned off the lights, on the wall right above her pillow was glow-in-the-dark writing that said “Hi Liz” (which is, of course, her name).  She freaked out, naturally, and got our roommate to investigate, eventually putting a poster over it so it wouldn’t glow.  The spot, however, was right behind where a dresser had been previously, and was completely covered until we moved the furniture.  We later had our RA-type person (the houses were college owned) do more research, and found out that NO ONE named Liz or Elizabeth or anything of the sort had lived in that room for the past, like 20+ years, and none of the campus staff really knew her to pull a practical joke, but even then, why behind the dresser?  They finally got someone to come paint it, but it still glowed some, and she kept the poster over it all year (it was an Everclear poster, and she still calls them her guardians!).  Super weird though.

@Miss Apricot: I don’t know if I believe in ghosts or not. I kinda hope there are ghosts, but I don’t know. I have a question regarding “the witching hour” though. Do you think ghosts adhere to our time zones? Like ghosts in Texas don’t come out until an hour later than those in Florida?

I definitely do, even though it completely creeps me out. I am so scared of supernatural type stuff, but I’m always the one that experiences it. My parents live in a house that’s over a hundred years old- we even found sermons written out that were dated 1894- craziness! Our dogs do the weirdest thing sometimes, they seriously act like someone is petting them. I don’t know how to describe it, but they do. Also, I was home alone once, and heard my name loud and clear. I didn’t even think twice about it at first, and yelled back “What?” until I realized no one was home but me. I ran out of the house so fast and called my parents and insisted they come home.

@SoupyCat: LMAO!  Okay, just creeped myself out a little bit.  I hit “reply” like five times, and it would NOT put the little “@SoupyCat” tag in.  I had to refresh the page.  Who wants their computer or website to act up when they are reading ghost stories?  Not me!!!  ANYWAY, to answer your question…

Do you think ghosts adhere to our time zones? Like ghosts in Texas don’t come out until an hour later than those in Florida?

I guess that would kind of depend.  Generally, midnight to 4am is considered the best time to “ghost hunt” because of the energy or whatever it is that makes paranormal activity stronger or more apparent at that time.  So, technically speaking, if the energy spikes in Texas later than in Florida, I would say yes.  At the same time, ghostly activity is not exclusive to those hours…paranormal activity can and goes happen during the daytime, for example.  So it’s not like there are a bunch of spirits, waiting in closets, staring at their watch or waiting for the clock to strike twelve.  So the answer is yes, but also no at the same time, if that makes sense.  LOL!

 @Earlybride: So these ghosts are demons. Messing with people around the world, looking like dead family members, shadows,etc.

You’re right!  I do disagree!  That is not to say that demons and/or evil spirts cannot take the form of our loved ones.  It’s one of the reasons I refuse to use a Ouija Board…it is too easy for something evil to take control of you when you invite them to use your body in that way.  Communication is better done with a digital recorder, and K-2 meter, or even a flashlight, so the spirit can manipulate an object WITHOUT interacting with you.

Also, just because we cannot hear them speaking with the naked ear does not mean they are not trying to communicate with us.  That’s why most ghost hunting teams use digital voice recorders; it allows them to capture the voices that may not be heard, (EVPs, aka Electronic Voice Phenomena).

Oh, and if an apparition does not appear to see or interact with someone, it’s believed to be residual energy; the “spirit” is in fact imprinted energy and is not aware of it’s surroundings or your presence.  In the case of residual hauntings, often the same activity will occur at the same time, repeatedly.  “Great Aunt Agatha walks down the hall at midnight every night,” or “Grandpa Bart closes the bedroom door at 4:30 in the morning on the fifth of the month.”  Sometimes, the activity repeats itself frequently, other times, it may be years between manifestations, or conditions need to be exactly right for that energy to “relive” the experience.

Intelligent hauntings are completely different…the spirit is aware you are there, and  is able to interact with you.  There may or may not be a full-body apparition, (which, from what I understand, are pretty rare), but you may receive knocks, or light flashes, etc., (or EVPs!) in response to questions.  Just don’t use a Ouija Board! Wink

Why am I still reading??!!

@SoupyCat:  That was hilarious!!

Okay, now for the creepy computer interference on my end… and I swear, I’m the one reading along, looking for the “fake” story and trying my best to take it with a grain of salt, but then again, I am still checking back… lol

Anyway, just now, I typed that first sentence, hit enter, and scrolled back up to hit reply to SoupyCat.  When I scrolled back down, the sentence had repeated itself, as in, copied and pasted.  Now, HOW did that happen?  I hit a lot of wrong keys, but how in the world did I manage that?  And why on this thread?!

My new way of looking at paranormal stuff tells me that it’s my dad trying to get me to stop scaring myself!  😉  Oh, and I’d like to believe that I now have a seriously strong and tough spirit on the other side, who wouldn’t let anything harm me… b/c that’s how he was in life.  I wish we could know what’s really going on though.

Last story~ can’t believe I forgot this one, b/c it’s a big reason why I can’t deny the possiblity anymore.  My very scientific, down to earth, and not easily excitable husband completely believes he and his sister saw a ghost when they were children.  They still shared a room and he says he was falling asleep one night when his sister, also a totally calm, rational person, screamed.  He opened his eyes and there was a man in their doorway, and the man just disappeared.  He doesn’t remember feeling threatened, just seeing a man long enough for it to register that it wasn’t his dad.  She was pretty freaked out by it.

@soon2bhis:   Yeah.  Crazy, huh?  I was totally creeped out the first time I saw it.  Looks like the deer is looking right at her, too.

Ugh! I’m getting chills! I am uncertain whether or not I believe in ghosts. I think I’d need something to happen to me for me to believe it. I always find a logical explanation for anything out of the ordinary.

Keep the stories coming ladies, these are fantastic!

 Okay, now that IS kinda creepy, especially since I had an error last night while trying to reply to Soupycat!  Like I said last night, who wants their computer to act up while they are in a thread of ghost stories???

@Miss Apricot:

@jjmomma:

Glad to entertain you ladies! And totally creeped out by the responding problems too!!

FWIW, I played with a ouija board when I was in 7th grade with my friend. It “worked”. We both swore we didn’t move it (I really didn’t!), and to this day I wonder if she was pulling my leg or if something really happened.

Today I was home alone with my cat… we were sittin gon the couch when a terrible loud bang came from my bedroom… it sounded like everything in there fell over! I was terrified!!!!! I waited 4 hours on the couch for my Fiance to come home and then went to see what it was… I have stackable containers to store things that were in the corner against 2 walls and they are heavy (full of photo albums and pictures/ paper and other craft supplies) I can’t lift them myself. They were all on the floor and they were secured together prior to ending up on the floor but when I went in they were apart. I have no idea how they could have ‘just fallen’ when no one was in there or near them ALL DAY. I am still so freaked out it’s unreal.

Oh and I have a photo from a few months ago when I took my son to a train museum. On our way out someone asked if we heard about the ghost stories and we got a little history lesson and got to see actual photos of strange things people caught on film there. When I got home I checked out my photos putting them on facebook and came across THIS:

there was nothing else around me and that huge shadow definitely looks like something odd to me! I guess we got a photo of our own to bring home!

I believe in ghosts/spirits/energy whatever you want to call it.

When my grand father died he was staying at my Mother’s.  At the time I was living interstate, but was also visitng my mothers because my Sister was having a baby.  He died about 4 days after the baby was born.  His death was very sudden, he was being treated for lung cancer and he was fine and healthy, and died within about 2 weeks of being diagnosed with the cancer.

Anyway

I was sleeping in the lounge room, and every morning he would sit on the lounge and say “Good Morning my name” over and over and over until I woke up so he could turn on the TV.  He was ADDICTED to Bold and the Beautiful.  He used to drive me crazy!!

The morning after he died, I woke up, I could feel his presence.  I rolled over and I wouldnt say I saw him (as in him physically) sitting on the lounge, but it certainly was his energy.  Without a shadow of a doubt I know it was him.  He stayed with me for about 5 years after that.  He went back to Brisbane with me, then followed me back to Newcastle when I moved back to my Mum’s.  Followed me to my new Boyfriend’s house, and then through the 2 different houses I lived in with him.

He would randomly change the channel, always to channel 10 (Bold and the Beautiful Channel).  And that occured on 4 different TV sets.  He also used to stop me from opening my car door.  I would feel the resistance.  A few times I opened the door, and he slammed it on me.  He would do random stuff like that on me all the time.  I got used to it.  We would laugh it off.

The one day it stopped.  I never saw him or felt him again.  Maybe he got sick of me, or found something else to do with his time.  Maybe he felt it was time to be reborn.  Who knows.  But it was fun while it lasted.

Also, I have a story where I went and saw a medium.  A friend and I thought it would be a laugh.

She said to me “who is anne?” I was like ummm Anne?  I don’t know an Anne.  She told me the spirit was very insistant that I knew her, I attended her funeral.  It was a very formal occiasion.  THINKING THINKING  OHHH Annie!!!  I had known her through the fire brigade, she passed away from cervical cancer, and yes I was at her funeral.  AND it was very formal, all the top brass were there.

The medium told me that Annie desperatly wanted to get a message to Gary, she wanted him to know she was happy, and no longer in pain.  She wanted him to be happy to.  I asked why on earth she came to me?  I had only met her in passing.

A few days later I ran into her husband, He was a Group Officer, I brought it up, I told him that I didnt know if he was ready to hear it, but I had been given a message from Annie.  He got all upset and walked away.  About an hour later he came bacl and we discussed it.  And it turned out that the exact moment I was in with the Medium, he was in the fetal position on his bathroom floor screaming and crying.

It still gives me goose bumps.  She so desperatly wanted to reassure him and help him, she found me of all people to get that message back to him.  And he told me that it did comfort him to know that she no longer felt pain, because she had lingered in it for many years.

Does anyone think animals become ghosts too? I would like to think so, that I would see my pets again. But then I think, do worms and flies become ghost worms and and flies? Cause god knows I’ve killed my share of bugs… Is there a prerequisite level of biological sophistication before you get to be a ghost??
