Yes My Fiance and I live in my grandmother’s she pasted away  3 years ago. My FI and I had been living here for about a month. When it happened……….My Fiance and I had been fighting I didn’t want to fight anymore so I went out to our front portch to have a smoke. My was still fuming about the subject and muttering nasty words under his breathe in our kitchen. The next thing I know I heared aloud crash. A heavy large (light fixture) fell from the ceiling and hit him in the shoulder. He survived (lol) We haven’t had an argument since!

He and I joked that it was my Grandmother picking sides, and taking care of me.

I used to be able to feel when someone would walk into a room, but for all I know that was caused by tiny changes that I didn’t notice on a concious level. One day my SO and I were watching tv when I heard someone whisper in my ear. It was sort of a breathing whisper though. I told my mum and she then told me the following.

When mum was about 17, they (family) lived in a haunted house. There were 2 stories in particular that creeped me out. The first was about my uncle and nan. My uncle was in the shower and nan went to the toilet (next to the bathroom). Uncle heard the toilet flush and then a little after that he heard nan trying to open the door to the bathroom, so he yelled out ‘it’s ok mum i’m dressed’, but she was actually in the kitchen. It was one of those handles that moves up and down, rather than one you turn and it was moving pretty quickly apparently.

this one is much creepier. While they lived in that house, mum had a big wooden stump propped up against her door so that if anyone wanted to come in, she’d have to move it so the door could be opened. She was sleeping one night in summer and had her window slightly opened. She woke up to someone stroking her hair and instantly thought it was nan. She was still drowsy so just growled ‘don’t mum!’ while she was half asleep. Then she remembered that the door couldn’t have been opened from the outside, or if someone HAD managed to open it she would have heard. She opened her eyes to see what the hell was going on and was already a bit creeped out, but when she opened her eyes her wind chime started going crazy.

There was one other time that was a bit weird when I was about 12. Our class was all staying at a friends place (tiny town, there were probably 12 of us, maybe a few more) and the house was very old. Way back when , it used to be a hospital and was meant to be haunted. There was one girl there who was in tears, convinced that she’d seen a ghost (she later admitted to lying), and we were all saying whether or not we believed. One girl is sitting on a chair next to the door saying that it’s all crap, she doesn’t believe in it ect and then the door swung open, just like a person had done it, not slow or fast, just normal. She had the most terrified look on her face and pretty much jumped out of the way.

I believe in ghosts, spirits and hauntings. I believe all three are different. After my beloved uncle passed away, I was so depressed that I cried every night before going to sleep. He must have gotten tired of seeing me crying so much because one night he paid me a visit. I had fallen asleep and I began to dream about my deceased grandmother. I had never been able to dream about my grandmother since her passing years earlier so needless to say I woke up in tears. Just as I managed to calm myself down and wipe the last few tears from my eyes I looked up to see my uncle standing over my bed! I saw his face very clearly, he was looking down at me as if he wanted to make sure I knew it was him. I was so freaked out that immediately I pulled the cover up over my head. A couple seconds passed when I realized who it was and as I pulled the cover back down, he was turning to leave. I managed to say I love you while choking back more tears before he smiled, turned his back and disappeared. Almost immediately I felt at peace. I have never cried for him or my grandmother again.  My uncle’s is the only spirit I have ever encountered. Now my cousin passed last week. I am hoping for a sign from her. Maybe not the way he did it, but something to let me know that she is okay and watching us from heaven.

I don’t believe in them, but then again beliefs don’t constitute actual knowledge.  So I guess I’d be better off saying I’m not sure if they exist or not, and I don’t know who/what “they” are.

I DO like scary movies, especially paranormal thrillers and the like.  I don’t know why, but it’s almost like I want to believe in them, but my mind tells me no.  But now that I’ve typed this I’m freaking myself out!  lol

I had to resurrect this thread! I DO believe in ghosts. I think our new house might have a ghost since we always hear footsteps and muffled conversations in the kitchen when we are in our bedroom or in the living room. we try to be very quiet and listen to what they might be saying but can’t quite make it out….Things have gone missing too and end up in the most peculiar places :S

@mrsalexander:  Man, everytime these posts come up I have to sit and read every single story and freak myself out!  Thankfully I haven’t had anything too bad happen to me recently – all my experiences were when I was a teen.

Has anyone else heard about how strong emotions will bring out visitations or poltergeists?  I remember reading that things happen around teenagers most often because of their mood swings/strong emotions etc.  Anyways, sure seemed to happen to me!  I used to hate my room at my parents house because creepy things happened to me all the time:  if I was listening to a CD player and walked in my room it would stop working….but start working again once I walked back out, feeling like something was staring at me from a certain corner up by the ceiling, having my heavy full piggy bank suddenly turn upside down (with a loud ca-chunk from all the money inside), my cat would refuse to come in my room at times and just hiss and spit from the doorway, etc.  Since I was about 23 though nothing has happened and I can sleep there with the lights off with no problem!

@HisNightOwl2014:  Well I had the TAME stuff happen to me – and at least it was concentrated in one room!  My coworker is currently dealing with a haunting that is also semi-tame.  When the family is in the living room they can hear someone go through the kitchen drawers like they are looking for something.  Also, late at night they can hear someone running around in circles in the living room.

Ready for the not-tame stuff?  When my friend was going through a horrible breakup with her live in boyfriend they had all sorts of bad stuff happening in their home.  Footsteps coming up the stairs and down the hall to their bedroom..and then starting up again at the bottom of the staircase and coming up the stairs again, and again, and again all night long.  They would wake up and see dark shapes surrounding their bed kind of wobbling back and forth (like someone praying and leaning back and forth – hard to describe), and they both had the same nightmare over and over about being picked up in bed and spun around.  Ugh! Still gives me the heebie jeebies to think about it.  Oh and her boyfriend went to Honduras to visit family and THREE people approached him at different times on the street to tell him that he had a demon following him.  If that had been me I would have been racing to the closest church for a blessing!

I believe in them, I’ve had some very strange things happen to me so I’ve kinda HAD to believe in them.  I think the human body is just one stage in life, we have a long journey and this shell is just a part of it.  Crazy I know XD

I have always been intuitive to the point that I have freaked out family members with a description of a well dead great-great-grandfather that I have never even see photos of.

Backstory: at the time my dad had been having some major health issues and my grandfather was in hospital with something going wrong with his memory and brain function.

When my grandfather passed away I was working in the same building as my Fiance, he was upstairs and I was working in the warehouse. I just got a really strong feeling of a male walking through the area near me. I knew something was going down and got a little upset that it could be someone close but tried to keep working and act normal. The other guy I was working with asked if I was ok (must have looked a little pale) and I said “yeah, but I think something bad has happened, just a gut feeling”. Twenty minutes later I was still working and a call came into the office but got transferred upstairs (could hear the ringer upstairs go off after a moment) and then some quiet talking and my Fiance came downstairs and took me outside. My words were “I know something has happened just tell me who it is” and he told me it was my maternal grandfather. It was only when I heard who it was that the emotion kicked in and when I started crying I felt both my FI’s hands on my back while he held me and I felt a hand on my head as well.
