I don’t watch scary movies. Not my thing…. But the latest strange incident was a few months ago when my husband said he was running to the hardware store (still daylight) and would be back soon. I acknowledged him and proceeded with scrubbing our bath tub. While I was hunched over, I felt a presence behind me and assumed it was my husband. All of a sudden, a male voice yelled loudly from behind me: “BOO!” It startled me to the point I had heart palpitations, and as I turned around, in mid-yell at my husband, I realized I was all alone still. I grabbed a gun and cleared the entire house, but there was no one there.

OH! And the picture posted… Yikes. :/

dalia88:  I can see why you like the building based on the photo. It sounds cheap (in price) but looks really chic!!!!!

I really don’t know what to think about the person sitting there. I wouldnot think it’s a ghost though automatically. Either way, don’t discount your experiences. Be mindful of everything going on. And honestly, if you were my daughter i would tell you not to live there.

Also I would move. I’m not one for ghosts, but I do believe in spirits. (I believe anytime there a “haunting” it’s actually demonic in nature) so I would get the he’ll out.

My mum is not the type of person to believe in things without evidence, but she swears blind this is true:

One evening at around 8pm she was sitting in the living room with her boyfriend and she felt someone gently brush her hand and she “knew” it was her great aunt coming to say goodbye to her. She told her boyfriend “I think my great aunt just died”. She called her great aunt’s daughter the next morning who told her that the Great Aunt had passed away the night before at 8pm and that if she would have wanted to say goodbye to anyone, it would have been my mum. All three completely corroborate this story and there was no way my mum would have known she was going to die that evening.

So I don’t know what to believe, but I trust my mum 100% to not lie or exaggerate something to me.

dalia88: i’m very religious (catholic) and believe in spirits. i’m also super intrigued by all those ghost shows, supernatural investigations, etc. my friend growing up had a haunted house (and i’m pretty sure i saw a ghost there as a kid) and i have family that lives in a haunted house now.

many believe that spirits haunt places where there was an abrupt death or sad circumstances where the person can’t just “move on” when they die. a suicide would fit the bill. it sounds like the spirit wants to let you know its there. it doesn’t sound menacing. it just wasn’t ready to go.

my cousins that currently live in the haunted house see small children ghosts, hear footsteps, things move, footprints are left on carpet, etc. my cousin got tired of it one day and just yelled out “we can all live in here in peace, just leave my family alone” and the oddities stopped.

it probably sounds completely crazy, especially to someone who doesn’t believe in ghosts, but maybe try something like that?

dalia88:  Oh my gosh! I got chills just reading!! I definatley believe in ghosts, and although I have not experienced anything myself, I’m scared shitless of it all!! I would be out of that apartment in a heartbeat, and I certainly would not have moved back into a different one! That picture is super creepy when I think that it could be a ghost.  But it does look like it could be a real person, although I don’t know why the agency would take a pic with a prson in it.

Okay. I’m going to sound like the crazy one, but I have a sense about these things and I think you have a haunting. It might calm down, it might escalate. Doesn’t sound like too much of  a big deal right now, but if the washing machine keeps turning on you might have a real nuisance on your hands. And if something like a stove turns on, it’s dangerous and you’ll need to move out. If you like the apt I’d probably stay for now and see how things go. Some people suggest talking to the spirit in a situation like this; you ask them to stay out of your way — kinda making a “we both need to live here” bargain — but for some reason I don’t feel that is the best approach here. I’d ignore the stuff that happens … try not to get freaked out … and see how it goes. Light flickers off? Turn it back on. Washing machine turns on and pours out water? Just deal with it as if it weren’t a ghost. In other words, if there is a spirit doing things, don’t feed that spirit with attention and energy. With darker energies (which suicides tend to be) it’s kinda like with dogs — don’t let ’em smell fear!

FWIW, I don’t think that is a ghost in the chair, I think it is an actual person. I do think the ghost is probably the suciide from the other apartment, and that ghost rememebers you (do you know if it was a she? I’m sensing female energy even though your friend heard a male voice).

darkhorse84:  omg. nope.  I would have been riddled with fear and ran out of my house until my husband came home.  and then proceeded to make us move asap.

If I were in your shoes, I wouldn’t have even considered moving into the same building so you’re brave for that! And that picture… that is pretty creepy. It very well could have been someone sitting there waiting for the person taking the pictures to finish. I do believe in ghosts and spirits and your story freaked me out!

I do believe in ghosts, I’ve had many experiences with ghost like things.   the last one I recall was about two years after my husband died,, my pets woke me up and my pup was on my bed looking at the wall barking, it was late.. So I said out loud.. If that’s you honey I love you but it’s late and I got to go to work in the morning.   💕  It worked.  So I kind of talk it out even if I’m a bit scared shitless.

If you search there are several really long and spooky threads about ghosts.

That picture…. It’s the legs. Incredibly creepy.

Whenever I have sleep paralysis, it’s normally brought on by stress or an overactive mind. Try a combo of a good face mask + ear plugs- that often stops me from hearing things/seeing things at night. Approach it all like normal. Don’t feed extra negative energy. But next time you’re freaked out, especially at night, out loud say “I’m trying to sleep and you’re scaring me. Go away right now. You’re not welcome.” It’s made me feel better, real or not. Also burning some sage and doing a cleansing can’t hurt.

My husband doesn’t believe in ghosts and I’m a paranormal agnostic, so he tried to explain to me I was probably just imagining it. I have a pretty decent imagination, but I don’t imagine much of anything fantastical- let alone audible- while I’m scrubbing a tub. I have no idea what it was, but whatever helps him sleep at night! (Or during the day, since he’s a graveyard shifter).

The only times I’ve ever seen him perplexed about strange phenomena are when he flies the helicopter over one large cemetery in the metro area and there are tiny, faint spots of lavender light below that slowly fade in and out like Christmas tree lights. He took me up one time (with a co-pilot), and sure enough- there were the little lavender flashes! It was truly bizarre, and he had nothing for that.
