    I do.

I was raised Lutheran and was really active in the church when I was younger. I’m way less active as an adult (I don’t even remember the last time I went to church) but do still believe the basics – God, Jesus, love everyone.

My husband is also Christian. We do plan to raise our kids with religion but also want to encourage them to explore their spirituality and learn about other religions.

Yes. I grew up in a religious household, where there was one god and only one “true” way to get into heaven.

I don’t go to church and I don’t believe that any more, but I do believe there is a god. I dont’ think certain religions are “wrong” any more than the next religion, but I do believe at the core they’re all culturally different versions of the same thing.

Definitely do not believe in concept of the anthropomorphic white patriarch in the sky. And honestly, the whole concept of organized religion rubs me the wrong way something fierce. I sure as Hell… don’t believe in Heaven lol.

But despite all that I feel so deeply in my bones that there are things in the Universe greater and more mysterious than we could even imagine. And I believe in love and cosmic consciousness. So I could never be an atheist either.

peekaboobs :  I think it is hilarious that my vote brought the counts up to 6 yes, 6 no, and 6 I have my doubts. I voted no, btw.

peekaboobs :  I am not an indecisive person, but I could never be certain enough to embrace one religion and be like THIS IS THE ONLY THING THAT IS RIGHT, which also explains why I could never be an atheist either. They both involve making an absolute decision about it.

I’m not really sure but I do know I’m not a fan of religion in general. The thought that you dedicate your one life on earth to being devoted to some guy in the sky in hopes he’ll let you in really skeeves me out.

As a scientist, I’ll say that all scientific conclusions are tentative. We never prove anything 100%. 99.999999%, sure, which is functionally 100%, but there’s an important difference.

Which is why it’s hard for me to believe in agnostics  😉  Either your working hypothesis is that there’s no god and you’re an atheist, or your working hypothesis is that there is a god (or gods) and you’re a theist. They’re pretty fundamentally different ways of living your life and viewing the universe!

Now, I understand some religious people claim 100% certainty, so maybe someone could say “agnostic but leans theist” to distinguish themselves. But “agnostic leans atheist” = atheist.
