Just to give you a little background:
*My Fiance first met my family when he took me to the hospital the night my grandfather died. We were only dating a couple of weeks and I got the call and was out with him so he drove me straight to the hospital and sat with us the entire night, therefore he never met my grandfather.
*I have a lot of health issues and don’t know if I will be able to have a child of my own or if we will need to adopt.
*My grandfather is a fisherman and my mother has a painting of my grandfather’s favorite painting in the room that Fiance is staying in while we remodel our house (yes, my dad is old school)
So last night my mother went over a friends house who had a psychic come who connects with the dead. Well my Papa broke through and told my mother that her daughter is marrying her very best friend and there is no reason to worry. The psychic proceeded to tell her that he specifically sent my Fiance here for me and that we will be very happy and we are exactly where we should be. The woman also mentioned the painting that is over FI’s bed and that it was him there protecting us. On top of all this the woman told my mother that my health problems are behind me but I would need to do IVF but would be able to get pregnant. I am surrounded by multiple births, she see six children!
Do you believe in psychics? I am torn because I never believed in these things but the psychic didn’t know my mother or that she had a daughter who is getting married or know about a painting in our house or my health problems.

My sister has this ability and I do to a certain extent, so yes absolutely – as long as it is someone who isn’t necessarily profiting from it. I actually “predicted” my soon to be fiance but got two letters of his name wrong. This was long before we met, I even told my best friend I think his name will be such and such. I have also connected with her grandmother and passed on information I was hesitant to say (for examples, I got the image of “cows” in my head. Who knows what the hell that was? I mean, it could easily have been my imagination). But it made a lot of sense to her and hit home. I guess the cow thng was something they bonded over (her grandmother lived on a farm and tended to them).
I haven’t actually met with any psychics myself, but my FMIL’s best friend read my tarot which was ridiculously accurate. π

I really wish I knew a good (and real) psychic. I find it fascinating. I think there are genuinely some people who have this ability, and then there are some that are ripping people off faking it. Just like anything in life, it’s always the bad ones people hear about and give it a bad reputation right?! I’m glad to hear you got such great news and we’ll keep our fingers crossed that it all comes true!

I believe that there are people with psychic abilities. I’ve never personally met anyone, but my step-father had a woman (who he later found out is one of the psychics in Cassdaga) walk up to him about 20 years ago in the grocery store and tell him quite a few things that were way too specific to be just a guess. And it wasn’t like he was paying the woman, she just walked up to him.
One of the main things he told her was that he would have 3 children, but there would be red-headed twins. So when he and my mother married, there was always this joke about the red-headed twins. My little sister was born, and so when my mother got pregnant again, he would tease her about twins. Needless to say, I have twin brothers, who were born with red hair.

@bakerella- I know! I always thought it was just for entertainment but its weird when they really know things about your life. I hope that it’s true except for the six kids! OMG is that a lot. Maybe 4 and 2 dogs, I can deal with that π
@artichokesalad- That’s awesome. So you much have know when you met him, how exctiing!

Believe it or not, I forgot I predicted the name until a week after we met. I will admit when I first was introduced to him, I “knew” he would be my husband. But of course you ALWAYS question that instinct because it sounds insane. I still from time to time feel a little insecure, but I am pretty confident we’ll be fine. I generally don’t tell people about my abilities. It’s easy for someone to use it as a crutch or to think you have a mental illness when you share it. Ahh, the anonymity of WB. π

@artichokesalad- It’s like an amazing gift but you can’t share it, how sad! Got to love WB!

I believe in physics (although there are def tons of fakes out there!), because I have gone to a woman who knew really intimate details of my life/things that have happened, none of which I told her or hinted at – and which you were never know (not something easily guessed). She wasn’t vague either, about what she knew.
She also told me that FH was “the man I would marry”, and specified him BY NAME, again, without me hinting or prompting her. There were lots of things specific to our relationship, which she told me, which have all come true (she was off by 4 months for when he would ask me to marry him, but I’ll cut her some slack on that one LOL). She said we will have 2 daughters – so, we’ll see!

It’s a little eerie what they can say sometimes. I always said I didn’t believe, but then my friend went to a tarot card reader, and she predicted a bunch of personal stuff about her that no one else knew, that nobody could deduct just from speaking with her (personal incidents from 15 years ago, specifically described.)
It’s plausible to think that some people have a gift. On the other hand, there are tons of charlatens making a lot of money off it as well.

I don’t believe in psychics because I’m a Psychologist and we study these things in depth, as well as how those TV “psychics” work. π We learned how to trick anyone into believing us. Best training if you have no moral issues with it (which I do, darn!) and want to take peoples’ money.
One thing you can do if you’re really trying to get an honest feel is to go to a psychic you and your family members have never been to before. Don’t give your real name beforehand and don’t volunteer anything. I mean, even if they say something like, “I feel you’ve lost someone…” don’t jump in and volunteer information. Or, on the flip side, you could volunteer false information (yes! my dear aunt died just two months ago.) and see what they do.
But that’s the skeptic in me. π
