i haven’t experienced buying dresses over the internet, but make sure you try some dresses on at a shop somewhere so you can get an idea of what suits you and your bridesmaids and what doesn’t. what you like from a picture you may not like as much in person, etc

Agree with PP. I have always heard not to, because you dont know the quality and how it will fit/look on you.

However I buy things almost solely online. And what I am looking for in a dress is not very common. So I may go this route too.

Interested in seeing if other people have had good experiences.

I bought mine online! BUT I did try on dresses to see what worked for my shape before I bought! There are a LOT of legit places to buy dresses I got mine from Ouma on Etsy! You can also get a used dresses or http://www.bestbridalprices.com has NOT KNOCK OFF dresses! and usually priced pretty good too!

I was going to buy my dress online but chickened out. I thought $200 for a $1800 dress must look pretty crummy.

I did and I don’t regret it at all.  In fact, I plan to purchase online for my second wedding next year.  I saved so much money ($300 for a Maggie Sottero style dress) that I ended up buying two dresses; an ivory one for the ceremony and bridal pictures, and a copy in red for the reception.  I did notice that the material wasn’t as thick as the designer dresses but it photographed beautifully and none of my guests had any idea that it wasn’t the real thing.  I also really liked that I was able to order mine using my exact measurements so I didn’t have to pay for any alterations.

Well, I bought my wedding dress from an online shop too; i am happy i did so. $250 for a 3x price dress; indeed saved a lot of money.

My pink lace wedding dress was simply irresistible and made so well! It fits perfectly, and came in such a timely manner.

If I ever need a dress for a special occasion, I’ll definitely buy from http://www.ninedresses.com/!!

Well, I’m looking at buying online for my future wedding…but haven’t yet for obvious reasons (I’m not engaged lol). BUT I did have to buy a bridesmaids dress via seasonmall.com for my best friend’s wedding this past June, there were some issues with the sizing because we didn’t get them custom but overall they were good quality and fit beautifully after alterations. I would like to say that we didn’t save money on the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses, and that wedding dresses have a much larger price difference then most Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses I’ve seen online.

Anyone used SimplyBridal.com?  Apparently they even have a showroom in LA so they look legit but I’m always wary of internet purchases.

What other website of non-knockoffs did you guys purchase through?

i bought my dress off of ebay. It was a sample in a bridal salon that went out of business. I got the dress for 1/3 of the retail price and I simply drycleaned it.

I was a Bridesmaid or Best Man for a wedding in June… we ordered our dresses online through Target (I didn’t even know they had a Bridesmaid or Best Man line!!). We got really lucky and the dresses looked great, however, we had all gone out together to try on dresses in person to know for sure what would look good on us.

I got my Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses over the internet (from ally fashion). Wound up costing a tiny $40 per dress plus postage ($14 all up, because I went with registered post, otherwise it could have been free). Everyone loves them.

I’m not planning on buying my dress from the internet, just because it’s too important and expensive for me to ‘risk’, but Jasmine’s bridal gets excellent reviews. If I were going to buy mine online, i’d go through them I think.
