I voted yes, but I don’t count because my dad is my boss, and it’s pretty normal to buy your dad a christmas present. πŸ™‚

Good question … I have 2 bosses and also do work for 3 other attorneys in the office.. and have two co-workers..

last year I bought everyone 20.00 starbucks card.. but this year.. its just too much and not enough $ .. what to do!!

I usually get a bonus from one, and gifts from the other 4 attorneys.

Nope never. We do the “Dirty Santa” game at our holiday party though, so everyone gets a gift but usually it’s something obnoxious or super awesome (like the “One Man Wolfpack” T-shirt I got).

No, I’m not. I read somewhere that you shouldn’t feel obligated to “gift up”. However, if you have an assistant or secretary, you should probably give them a little something. I am getting my secretary a little mini Le Creuset pot and some cookies.

I did get my boss a small gift because we work on a small team and are pretty close. Nothing huge, extravagant or inappropriate though.

Nope. it’d be considered super brown nosing here…and not okay at all. It’d be weird. He works in another building though! We do give a card and stuff to our secretaries

My boss has always given me a christmas gift and this isn’t something the company pays for.  It’s from his own pocket.

Last year, we didn’t because of the wedding but this year I did get him a gift.  Darling Husband and him are friends, so DH picked out the gift.  If it weren’t for the Darling Husband, I wouldn’t know what to get him.  Guys are so hard to shop for.  For us women, it’s easy. There are lot of generic women gifts to choose from.

ETA: Also, I consider myself somewhat close to my boss because he and I used to work together at another company and when he moved across the country for another job, I was the only one he asked to come with him. Plus, it’s doing wonders for my career.  So yeah, I owe him.

Yes; I still need to buy it this weekend, though.

I have 3 bosses now (it was 4) and only got one of them a gift, mainly because he always gets me something whether it’s a holiday or a trip out of town.  So I said it depends.
