Old but interesting thread! Darling Husband and I don’t have pet names for each other. We usually use each other’s first names. Sometimes, to be silly, we call each other “my husband” or “my wife.”

the other night i said, i love you [FIs name] and he thought i was upset at him since we usually only use our given names during arguements or structured public settings, other than that we are both “bebe” (spanish for baby).

I tend to use his name alot. Then when we are having our cutesy moments together I use other names. He always calls me Princess, buttercup, and sweetheart. I don’t think I have heard him say my name much..

I think the only times I say his name are in exasperation, when I am yelling from a distance and when I am talking to other people about him. With the latter, I rarely use his name and just use his initial.

We hardly ever use our real names. Like once or twice a month, if that. We always call each other “B”.

I always call him by his name, mostly because I knew him first by a nickname and he is in the military so still no one calls him his actual name. So, it’s nice to be one of the few people to call him by his name. I just love saying it as well.

Pet names are not our thing at all, we’ve had a couple of discussions over it actually. He calls me “Honey”, or “Sweetie” when being sarcastic though and it cracks me up.

Typically only when I am upset or something. Just like when you got in trouble as a kid, how your mom would say your name.

I usually call him daddy or big daddy. Not because of daddy issues/fantasies but from when our first daughter was born. Funny enough though, she started calling him by his name becuase she always heard her older brother call him by his first name and no matter how hard we try to tell her to call him daddy she wouldn’t. Now both of our daughters call him by his first name but I always say daddy to him.

I know this is so weird but I’ve never called him by his name, I have such a problem with doing it and I don’t know why! I never called my ex by his name either, I sometimes want to do it but I get anxiety thinking about it, like I’ve gone too long not saying how do I just say it out of nowhere. I don’t know what is wrong with me.

This is so funny. Me and my Fiance never use pet names for each other because neither of us like “mushy” type stuff. We always use each others first name and rarely refer to each other as “love” but if I tried to call her “baby” or “honey” we would both probably burst out laughing and/or she would give me a disgusted look.

I knew pet names were common but I never realized HOW common they were.

Usually only when we’re trying to get eachother’s  attention/are upset or super serious. We don’t have nicknames or pet names for one another because frankly I think they all sound silly. 😛
