Since DBF and I usually spend time together alone, I usually don’t use his first name. I typically use it only if I really mean something (like a heartfelt “I love you”).

@peasantsong: Never, unless Im not happy with him. Usually is bun, bunny, love, boo, bunkin, beebee, baby, babe…yeah
He will call me EVERYTHING, ANYTHING! buttercup, baby, lovey, dovey, honey, muffintop (even tho I dont have one!) sugar, sugar britches, boo, or some random unusual weird “huh” kinda name!
I dont usually call him by his first name, and he doesnt call me by mine either.
He’s called me “love” since the beginning, and most of my friends dont call me “Melissa” its always “Liss.” he goes back and forth between those two.
I always call him “lovebug” as a joke, and it stuck. But I dont call him that around people, I call him “babe”
First names come out when were arguing, lol.
I never use him name…it’s just strange to say. He never calls me by my name. We both call each other hun or babe
Mostly nicknames.. His full first name when he’s in trouble 😉
I don’t… he’s usually “babe” or “sweetheart” or “lovey” (yikes, that actually sounds kinda sickening! lol). But no, we don’t usually call each other by our first names.
Funny though… last Saturday my parents were over from New Zealand and had offered to help us do a mini remodel of our back yard. They were over here from 11 in the morning to 8 at night and I swear I started feeling quite uncomfortable calling him those in front of my parents! lol. And it’s kind of awkward in front of our friends too. But if we call each other by our first names, we get weird glances from the other because it’s so unexpected! lol
My partner and I rarely use pet names. We have a couple – I sometimes call him “love” when texting, he sometimes calls me “sqeezy bear”, we both very occasionally use “honey” or “hun” – but we tend to stick to given names. I made it very clear from the beginning that “babe” and “baby” were strictly off the table, as I find them demeaning.
We almost always call each other by name. Pet names are pretty rare.
He barely ever calls me by my name, and calls me an assortment of pet names – which I initially hated but now I love. I use about 40% his name or variations of it and he uses 90% pet names and 9% variations of my name and 1% my full given name as it’s pretty long and consistently shortened.
When we first started dating we annoyed each other by calling each other ridiculous pet names like sooky-la-la and kitty-rabbit. But they stuck and now he is Sooky and I am Kitty-Rabbit…
I tend to call him honey or baby unless he is being his pushy self and I need him to listen to me then I call him by name. This always lets him know that I am serious and knock it off or pay attention this is important.
We have some silly nicknames for each other, but 95% of the time we call each other by our real names. I guess I’m in the minority here, I didn’t realize most people don’t!!
Hmm, it’s changed over the last year. I used to call him, “baby” instead of his name, but now I always call him “James”.
He used to always call me “Stef”, but now he calls me “chickadee”. So, he’s swapped as well.
Weird.
I do both. I guess it just depends what I feel like saying haha. I use his middle name alot too
This post is so adorable =) We call each other “Baby” or “Bae” usually. Or a special nickname. But in a formal setting, or around parents, I usually use his full first name or shortened first name; and he will use a shortened version of my first name.
My SO NEVER calls me by my given name – he instead has 2835039582 nicknames for me. I also only call him by his nicknames … unless it’s something serious.
