I try and clean as much as I can before I leave for vacation.  I hate coming home to a messy house.  Plus, when I do get home, I usually end up making a mess while I’m unpacking and doing laundry and such and it sucks if there is already a mess there.

I always clean house and do all the laundry before we leave for a trip.  I despise coming home to a mess and extra laundry.  Unpacking is bad enough, lol.  So I make it more pleasant for us by having everything lovely and perfect to come home to.

Edit:  Sorry you’re still feeling sick!  Maybe time to see a doctor?  Big Hugs (cyber hugs, don’t wanna get your germs, hehe).

My mom taught me this one from an early age….cleaning before a trip.  I didn’t realize how helpful it was until I was in college and would go on a week long trip with them and have tons of laundry to come home to, plus all the grocery shopping and other errands.  Cleaning the house makes one less thing to do.

Darling Husband and I travel all the time so I always stress about cleaning the house before we leave.  Now he says how much he loves coming home to a house that he doesn’t have to do anything to except trip laundry, unpacking, offloading our camera pics, and unwinding.

Before leaving for a day or more, I ALWAYS clean out the fridge, take out the garbage and clean the kitchen (dishes, counter, stove).  That’s really just to prevent grosser chores when I get home.  Otherwise, it’s time-dependent.  I prefer to have the bathroom clean, sheets changed, and laundry done, but it doesn’t happen every time.

I always clean the house before a trip. Not because I hate coming back to a mess (I could care less), but the in-laws come over and watch our pets while we’re away and I don’t want them to know that I am secretly a slob. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Coming home to a clean house is so nice, so I do always try to clean (and recruit my husband to help) before we leave for a few days!

@Mrs. Coyote:  Haha! Great reason. ๐Ÿ™‚

Not only do I clean, but I make spaghetti sauce and put it in the freezer so when I get home, dinner is already cooked! When we were home for 14 hours between Seattle for the wedding and Bahamas for the honeymoon, that spaghetti was the greatest thing in the entire world.

I do prefer to clean before I leave – nothing irks me more than running out of time to clean, and then coming home to REALITY… ๐Ÿ˜›

Depends on what you mean for clean. I never leave the house with dishes in the sink, blankets out if we were using them on the couch the night before, dogs bowls unwashed. But I have certainly left the house without washing the floors first. I would do laundry so you have everything you need to pack buit if you are very busy, just know you will have to clean the house next week when you get back.

Yes, always. I hate coming home to a mess. We don’t usually do laundry, mostly because we do it at FMIL’s house on Sundays, but we came home last Sunday from a quick trip and she’d done our laundry for us lol.

We usually have Future Mother-In-Law watch our dogs when we go anywhere so I kind of have to clean or I feel bad. :/  Even though Future Mother-In-Law is a much bigger slob than we are lol.

Yep! It’s our main excuse to clean. I HATE coming home to a messy house. I walk in all relaxed and then see a mess and want to turn around and run away. But, if we clean before leaving, we come home and happily relaw on the couch or whatever. We’ve already done a full house cleaning for our vacation this weekend, so we just have to make sure the dishes are washed and the trash is taken out before we go.
