@kittyface:  I’m the opposite. Everyone in my family AND DH’s family had big weddings. I didn’t learn until the bee that a wedding over 200 is considered large; it’s just what I’m used to. I am thinking of every family member on mine and DH’s side and they all had large weddings.

Yep.  I’m Italian.  Not sure about his side though.  We’re having an small intimate backyard wedding so it’s definitely different.

My side has always had huge weddings. There are so many of us! I have 17 first cousins. He only has 4. We’re going against the norm and only inviting aunts and uncles (and friends, of course) and we’re still up above 70 people.

Welp. I’m Italian… I come from a big wedding family… Although it looks like you’re looking for the opposite? Maybe you should change the title, I clicked on your post because I DO come from a big wedding family. ๐Ÿ˜€

Nope, nobody I know on either side of our families had a big wedding. My family’s a bit skittish on the idea because of it, while his family is SO EXCITED to throw a really great wedding.

@kittyface:  I see the change. ๐Ÿ™‚ We’re having a big wedding and I’m excited and can’t wait celebrate with everyone. But personally, I say do what YOU want and what makes you happy. If that means a smaller, intimate wedding then go for it!!

I come from a big wedding family and Darling Husband comes from a small/informal wedding family.

This caused considerable discord throughout the planning process.

I’m Italian.  You know the drill.  Big weddings, TONS of food, open bar, lots of music and dancing.

SO’s family is huge. There are so many of them. so they have a simliar style.

Most people in my family had medium size weddings (about 100 people), Fiance family has huge ones (his Dad is one of 7, his Mom one of 4.)  We’re planning a smaller, 40 person shindig.  Mostly for sanity’s sake.

My family seems to run away and get married in cool areas. So, tha would mean small weddings run in the family ๐Ÿ˜‰ His family likes the HUGE weddings, and very traditional. We are getting married on a beach, despite them requesting a church wedding. We’re both spiritual, not religious.

Everyone in my family has huge weddings, several hundred people.  The smallest ones I know of are three where there were only about 75-80.  Of those three, one was on a holiday, one was on a Wednesday and the other was a second marriage.  Mine is going to be less than 20 for a destination wedding, so I’m breaking away from the norm for our family.

My family does Elopements. The JOP, witnesses and themselves. No weddings.
