My husband and I just give one gift for Mother-In-Law and one gift for Father-In-Law each from the both of us. We figure better one nicer quality item vs 2 not as nice items. Just wondering how others do it. Do any of you just do a gift from yourself and husband gets his own gifts for his parents?

We do joint. The gifts are from us both, but I buy for my parents, usually something well thought out in Oct-November. He buys for his parents, usually on Christmas Eve…

Sometimes we do one gift, sometimes we each do our own things – it depends on which family and the year/what we’re getting. We always do joint gifts for my family, but sometimes do separate gifts with his family. Last year we did joint stuff as we were buying more expensive gifts (custom artwork for his parents and sister) – this year we both have ideas of smaller things we want to get everyone.

We’ve been doing joint since the second Christmas that we were a couple. This goes for all our parents, grandparents, sblings and nephew.

@hspw714: Joint! I buy gifts for my family, and he buys gifts for his, then we put eachothers names on them also!

Joint gifts for everyone. Our parents are already hard enough to shop for without looking for two things for each of them.

@hspw714: Any gifts we give to parents/ILs look like it came from both of us.

We do joint gifts as well.

generally joint, occasionally with my siblings I’ll give them something on my own but it’s usually because it’s something that’s clearly from me and has to do with my relationship with that sibling.

@hspw714: We do joint presents too – one or two gifts for my Mother-In-Law, and one or two gifts for my Father-In-Law. And same with my parents. It’s much easier (DH haaaaaates shopping and is pretty awful at gift-giving) and it allows us to buy them more expensive gifts.

We do joint gifts to everyone – my husband hates Christmas shopping and isn’t a great gift giver so I choose what we give and organize it all. I’m not actually sure what he did before I came along…

We do joint. I still do all the shopping for my family and he does his, but both of our names are on the card. That is how most people I know do it, how my family always has, so it just makes sense to me.

We’ve been doing joint gifts the entire time we’ve been together. I like it that way.
