(Closed) Do you "do" Valentine's Day?

  • poll: Valentines day:

We love it! It's a huge deal and we celebrate in a big way: gifts, cards, dinner, flowers, the works

It's nice, but we usually just do a dinner out. It's more of a date night excuse for us.

We'll exchange cards and go out for a meal if we have the time, or one of us will cook.

We really don't pay much attention. It's not a big deal but I do at least get him/her a card

We don't do anything. I don't like the idea of Valentine's day because _____

We just don't care. If it went by without mention I probably wouldn't notice

I love Valentine’s Day! It kind of bugs me when people say “it’s a hallmark holiday” because it only is if you let it be. We don’t buy any chocolates, or teddy bears, or any of that Valentine’s-themed stuff, and we don’t go to any restaurants with extra expensive prix-fixe dinners. We just go out to a nice meal, give each other cards, and buy each other a small gift. I think it’s “cool” to deride Valentine’s Day, but I just see it as a fun day to look forward to dressing a little nicer and going out for a delicious dinner, especially when February is such a depressing, cold month, at least where we live. Personally I think people who hate on valentine’s day are taking it too seriously instead of just letting it be light and fun.

Our anniversary is our big day to celebrate our love. It’s like Christmas to us! Valentine’s Day is kind of required, but some take out and a bottle of wine makes me happy.

We get cards from Etsy so we can personalize them because cards mean everything to my husband. We exchange a couple small gifts– DH actually gets a video game every Valentine’s Day. I started it years ago, and it just stuck.

All that plus a movie and cuddles at home describes our Valentine’s Day.

We’ve never really done much,  so that’s why I was totally not expecting a proposal on V-day 2 years ago from DH.  Last year he got me flowers with a sweet, romantic card about it being a year since proposing etc., I got him his favorite candy and we had dinner at home.  This year, we decided to go out to dinner last night in leiu of V-day since one of DH’s friends from across the country is coming over for the night tomorrow.  I’ll probably buy him his fav chocolate and candy again.  We’re not much for celebrating anything…

I voted “dinner out”, but we don’t go on V-Day, waaaay too crowded!

We’ll go out to eat a week or two, and call it our V-Day meal.

@MrsDrRose612:  Not married yet, but we don’t really celebrate V-Day. We sorta do, like we’re getting Vietnamese food (but we get it every Thursday anyway). Last year we did burgers lol.

I got him a $6 chocolate heart. He said I can buy the flip flops and sweater that I want, and he’ll pay for it and that’ll be my Valentine’s gift.

So it varies really… we don’t put too much stock in the day and neither of us expect gifts. It just sorta varies… we have fun with it.

We do Valentine’s Day. This year, DH is leaving for a work trip tomorrow afternoon so we are celebrating today. Although it already started whenhe gave me card #1 last night and flowers this morning, and when I came down there were two rubber duckies, a big one and a baby one, since we found out im pregnant last week.  He always cooks a nice dinner for us, sometimes I even get breakfast in bed!  I got him a hammock that I may try and setup during lunch today, and a couple of books.  We usually just get each other smaller things, have a great meal, listen to some music and hangout.  I really enjoy Valentine’s day.

We go out to dinner, but don’t really do gifts or cards.  It’s pretty much like any other date night for us.

Our anniversary is today and we’ll exchange cards and go out to dinner, so we won’t really do anything tomorrow. Last year, he picked me up one of those cheesy heart shaped boxes of chocolates on his way home from work. That’s the extent of it.

Nah, it’s just a good excuse to go out and get our faces stuffed. We did our outing today to avoid everyone else tomorrow.

I feel like Valentine’s Day is just there to make single people feel bad. Single Awareness Day.

It’s our 4 year anniversary (of dating- not married yet) on tomorrow’s Vday, so we exchange cards and presents. We have a 15 month old little man, so fine dining isn’t so easy. We’ll probably stay home and make dinner- definitely the easiest option:)

We have gone out or cooked at home every year. But thats about it. He usually gets me flowers because i LOVE flowers.

THis year we are pretty much ignoring it. He might even be working.
