I feel bad for anyone who brags about how much they spent on something when I know they could have gotten a better deal. Most people make fun of me because I research any big purchase I make and price compare with several different places before I buy. But, I save a lot of money so the joke is on them 🙂

Ehh . . .sometimes. It’s hard not to give your two cents but I just think of how I wouldn’t want a response unless I asked . . .

I’ve never experienced anyone bragging about the cost of thier ring IRL (unless they actually got a great deal), but that would def turn me off… I would probably think the same thing as you, but wouldn’t say anything.

I agree with you. I’d feel that way about anything, not just a ring. If I bought a coat and my friend bought the same coat for a whole lot more, I’d feel bad for her, but I’d never actually say anything. That would make her feel bad and no one wants that.

@SpecialSundae: I never feel bad for anyone that brags about money that way. But I do notice when people could have gotten something better somewhere else.  I have a friend who bragged about her ring that way and she told me how much he paid for her 1ct princess cut (just the stone) and cost was $100 less than my fancy colored 1ct stone, same clarity.  She never cared, she said, “after everything he needed to pay this much”.  Some people are more concerned about what they’re spending vs what they’re getting for it.

I didn’t really have a clue about diamonds and rings etc, I’m probably one of those girls that was paid for a lot more than the going rate. But it was a designer one off ring, so I guess it can’t be found elsewhere, and the craftmanship on it cannot be bought from a high street store so to speak, so was worth the extra 🙂

I always feel bad if I hve bought something and then seen it cheaper in a sale or something afterwards. Usually I just move on, things like that just happen I guess

As long a the bride is happy, that is what is important.  I would never ever hate on someones ring.  I think the exciting part is the vow of marriage.

Yes. I am very cheap and way into deals, shopping around, etc so whenever someone buys anything and I know they could have gotten a better deal it burns a little inside. Lol. It’s especially true when it comes to jewelry though cause I’m a bit obsessed with it currently and it’s hard for me to keep my mouth shut when I know about something. I have a friend who’s looking for engagement rings right now for his girlfriend and he talks to me about it since I’m engaged. It’s hard though because we have opposite tastes and desires so I just smile and nod when on the inside I’m screaming “What! That’s a horrible plan! Let me just tell you…”

@SpecialSundae: I got you! I didn’t think your post was malicious by any means, nor were you “hating” on her.

Ha! It depends. If they’re bragging about how expensive it is, I notice but I don’t feel bad for them :). I guess that makes me a terrible person, lol.

@moonadea:  I am exactly the same! I saw a guy in Burlington Archade (the fanciest, and most expensive place in London to get jewellery, mostly antique shops but VERY overpriced) anyway, this guy was looking at rings in the window of one of the modern jewellery stores and told his friend that “she better like it with what I am spending on it” and I almost went up to him and said “noooo! don’t buy it here! You’ll be ripped off!
