The bee is so funny about ring size… I agree that it seems like anything over a 5 is considered an “obese” finger somewhat on here haha! I have long and thin fingers and I’m a 6-6.25 (rings are always a 7 though because I like my rings a bit loose) and I love being able to buy rings “off the rack” at jewelry stores!

People can have very small hands, not necessarily be overweight, and have chunky fingers. You can also be overweight and of a large build and have totally proportional fingers – large ring size without pudge.

I didn’t know people lied about the ring size carat size maybe, but not ring size….

If anyone lies that their finger is smaller than it actually is, then they’re making their diamonds appear smaller. A 1ct stone will look bigger on a sz 3 than a sz 6. If they’re really a 6, and are saying they’re a 3, then it would look like they’ve got a much smaller diamond if you were to believe their finger size.
People like more about their DIAMOND WEIGHT here, if anything. Maybe their fingers don’t look the size you expect it to look bc they’re really just lying about their diamond size/carat?
If I wanted to lie because I was that desperate for some sort of attention over the internet, I’d say my finger was larger than it was. That way I can pretend my diamonds are bigger.
*returns to exercising my ring finger to try to lose a size on it*

why would someone lie about their ring size? that’s like lying about their shoe size.

l’m not sure why anyone would bother to lie about their ring size, it’s not like that’s something people would judge you about. Who knows though, people lie about all kinds of things on the internet.
I have noticed that there seem to be a lot more tiny fingers on the bee than I see in real life. I work in a jewellery store, and in the last 6 months, I have only had one size 3, one size 3.5 and I believe three size 4’s. It’s quite uncommon for me to see fingers below a 5- the vast majority are between a 5 and a 9, and there are a few size 11 and 12’s in there as well.

Thank you! That’s exactly what I was thinking- wouldn’t you say your ring size is bigger so you can say your stone is bigger? If you’re going to lie about something silly at least this reasoning makes sense!

Never thought about it.. it would be super silly.

I refuse to believe people would lie on the internet.
I love 5 stone rings! Yours is lovely!

I think some people lie but I’m not really surprised by rings under 5. I weighed 140 lbs and had a size 5.5 (which I can barely put on my pinky nowadays), but now that I weight 225, my ring size is a loose 8. I’m hoping when/as I lose more and more weight, my finger will stabilize at around 6.5.
It’s like shoe sizes, people get really vain about things. Smaller/skinnier is “always” better. Nothing wrong with thin fingers, but I’m not known here other than known as beekiss so there’s no need for me to lie especially since no one IRL knows my username.

you should start a dime thread, lol. “Show me you ring…with a dime for reference!” HA!

@cls9q: Hmm I don’t think so.
I’d say my fingers look small-ish, but I’m a 5.5. It’s hard to tell from a photo, and also depends on someone’s proportions eg someone might be a 3.5, but have really short fingers; which will make them look much bigger than someone with very long fingers who’s the same size.
Same goes for dress size: I’m 5’7″, one of my best friends is 6’1″. Her bust-waist-hip measurements are bigger than mine, but because she’s much taller, she looks MUCH slimmer than me.

I have tiny hand envy. My hands are huge – size 8 ring and a full octave and a third reach on the piano. So when I see these “size 3-1/2” pics, I think “how do you pick up a coffee cup with that?” Hahah! (I’m also seriously jealous of you ladies with size 6 feet. I’m a 10!)
