    I've NEVER taken it off

    Occasionally

I take it off for certain things on a regular basis

I seem to never be wearing it/don't have a ring

I take my ring off to sleep, shower, wash dishes and sometimes cook. The hard water is not good for any ring. Also, I take off when I put lotion on or hand sanatizer or harsh chemicals.

I remove my ring to shower/wash my face, clean, or if I’m eating something particularly messy that I know I’m going to get all over myself :p I sleep with mine on though.

I only take it off when soap and water is involved. It swirls aound too much and makes me nervous. Of course it stays on when I’m in a public restroom.

@pharmy: Delicious. I am vowing not to let myself get to that point! I remember my godmother had stopped taking her set off and there was no way she ever could. The skin underneath was totally white and shriveled and the ring only had about a centimeter of leeway beofre it hit the knuckle and would go no further. I think it’s very romantic, but I want to be able to take it off because nothing beats the glow of a freshly clened ring.

seems like there is a trend. When I get my ring (waiting…lol) I can’t imagine EVER wanting to take it off! But I take off my regular rings now when I shower, clean, do dishes, cook with raw meat. But that’s pretty much it. I keep my jewelry on when I sleep, so I imagine I’ll do the same with the bling-bling.

I take mine off when I do dishes, put lotion on, work with raw meat, etc.  The thought of getting it gunked up with lotion or raw meat freaks me out!

I do shower and sleep with it on though 🙂

I have a friend who said she NEVER takes her ring off and she seemed very proud (and seemed to think I was somehow a lesser woman because I have ring dishes in the kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom).

She has a stunning ring, but it doesn’t sparkle because it’s dirty. I wonder what her jeweler would think of how she’s treating it. Our FIs invested quite a bit of money in these rings…shouldn’t we be proud to care for them to preserve them?

before i got married i would take my e ring off a lot more, maybe it just taking me time to get used to it. since i got married though, i have my ering on my right hand and my wedding ring on my left  hand 24/7.  the only time i sometimes take it off is when i wash my hair in the shower and that’s just cuz i have so much hair that when i was scrubbing my hair would tangled around the rings and it was annoying.  also, when i go to the beach (rare since i dont live near one). i am just worried/paranoid about it falling in the ocean, although realistically my rings are snug so i am sure it wouldn’t happen. i just can’t stand the thought of coming out of the ocean and it not being on my finger!  a pool is differnt as i would go touch and scubadive in the pool if i had until i found it. can’t do that in an ocean!

@pharmy: WOW. That is quite the article. Thanks for sharing it. The truth is I know people with rings like that, where you could see it hasn’t been removed for years and there is black gunk in the prongs. I take mine off most times I wash my hands, and to shower, clean with chemicals, or cook a messy meal. It scares me but my diamond doesn’t look as good after a week or two of washing with it on.

I take mine off for showering, dishes, cleaning certain things, baking certain things (bread/pie dough type things where you really have to use your hands), when I put on bronzer lotions or hair products… I think that’s it. I do wear it to sleep in though… I keep a ring box in the kitchen and in the upstairs bathroom and I never put it anywhere else when I take it off.

Only when I had surgery (they made me!) and when I go on the wheel (in ceramics studio).

I almost never take it off.

It goes on a chain around my neck when I do any hands-on work with physio or massage; and if I’m using abrasive cleaners like in the bathroom.

I clean it a lot though, to keep it sparkling.
