I even feel bad stopping in the store that my wedding band is from to get it cleaned, but I get it cleaned anyway whenever I’m at the mall.

Nah, any opportunity for them to bring a person into the store for any reason is a good thing! Who knows, they may even think that word of mouth from your awesome cleaning may spread and other people may come in that could lead to a sale.

Wow I’ve clearly thought about this too much.

LOL, I never did.  My sister worked in a jewelry store and ALWAYS asked to clean rings for people…she said it killed boredom when the store was dead and she got to look at pretty rings!  Imagine if it was your job and people just handed you their engagement rings???  Especially something that’s not in the case and new to you??  Too fun.

Nope, but if they do it cheerfully I might be more inclined to buy there in the future.

I usually buy jewelry from Zales, but my engagement ring came from Helzberg, so I don’t feel as bad when Zales cleans my ring. Plus you’re right, they do get it super sparkly.

Yes, I feel so bad, I always pretend to be interested in stuff while they are cleaning it. I am so weird like that though, i always have to act like I am so interested in the free samples at sams club too, like I ask questions and how to cook it and pretend like I might buy it haha, my Fiance is always teasing me, he is like “um, just eat the sample and walk away!”

@Eight6Eleven: Oh good point! I have heard (and this proved true when I worked retail) that people are way more likely to go into a store if there are a few other customers in there.

My Fiance and I became on a first-name basis with the man who sold us my e-ring setting at Zales, so whenever I go in the store, the salesman TELLS me to give him my ring so he can clean it! Haha it’s great.
